The role of Director of Food & Beverage at Oak View Group is crucial to maintaining and elevating the quality of Member experiences while achieving the club’s financial objectives. Reporting directly within the organization's hospitality management structure, the Director of Food & Beverage is tasked with overseeing all food and beverage operations and Member services. This leadership role aims to drive growth in member engagement and food and beverage revenues, reduce member attrition, and uphold the highest standards of service, production, cleanliness, and safety.
The position demands a dynamic leader who is not only adept at managing day-to-day operations but also skilled in strategic planning and execution. The Director of Food & Beverage collaborates extensively with other department heads, including Membership Sales, Member Experience, and Event Sales Directors, to align the hospitality services with overall organizational goals. The individual in this role is also responsible for staff recruitment, development, training, and retention, ensuring that all team members are equipped to deliver world-class service.
With an annual salary range of $68,000 to $78,000 and eligibility for bonuses, this position offers a competitive remuneration package aligned with industry standards for club management and hospitality leadership roles. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 5-7+ years in club management or food and beverage industry
- Ability to handle confidential member and employee data
- Strong computer skills including spreadsheet proficiency
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience in interviewing and hiring staff preferred
- Certifications such as ServSafe, alcohol safety, and CPR preferred
Job Qualifications
- 5-7+ years in club management or a related field in food and beverage industry
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- ServSafe manager certification preferred
- Alcohol safety certification preferred
- CPR certification preferred
- Ability to deal with highly confidential material such as member and employee data
- Computer literacy and spreadsheet knowledge required
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lead pre-shift meetings and motivate teams
- Previous experience interviewing and hiring food and beverage staff desired
Job Duties
- Maintain exceptional member relations and facilities by creating a quality environment through staffing, programming, service operations, and maintenance
- Develop aggressive food and beverage sales, marketing, and net revenue plans and direct successful implementation following established budget and revenue guidelines
- Identify opportunities for member events and food and beverage services to satisfy ongoing member needs and implement them to achieve revenue objectives
- Ensure all expense control systems are in place with close monitoring of all department expenses including the revenue to payroll ratio and appropriate forecasting systems
- Work with member committees to develop and implement member activities and events
- Communicate with members on group and individual bases to ensure the club is exceeding their expectations
- Recruit, select, and develop a qualified staff of service employees
- Develop employees for career advancement using performance review systems, cross-training, and developmental planning
- Hire quality employees ensuring proper screening, onboarding, background checks and interview processes
- Administer appropriate compensation packages in conjunction with labor laws
- Create an excellent work environment centered on teamwork and mutual respect
- Implement and execute specific training programs to ensure staff provide quality service and products
- Responsible for scheduling and budgeting of labor costs
- Ensure controls on time reporting are in place and times are accurate
- Ensure adherence to mandated policies and procedures
- Attend and lead department meetings and training sessions
- Partner with fellow employees to provide the best service to all members and guests
- Implement service recovery programs so staff are properly trained to execute them
- Initiate and control wine/beverage sales incentives for the service team
- Help control labor costs, linen costs, and miscellaneous food and beverage expenses
- Adhere to company, club, and department standards of operation and policies
