Job Description
Barton Hills Country Club, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a prestigious member-owned private club renowned for its rich history and commitment to quality. Established in 1919, the club features a classic Donald Ross-designed golf course that stands among the finest in Michigan. Recognized as a Distinguished Club of America, Barton Hills exudes tradition and excellence, attracting an engaged membership base that values both the heritage and elevated experiences the club delivers. With its upcoming role as host to the USGA Women's Senior Open in August 2026, Barton Hills remains a central figure in the region's golfing and social scene, offering a blend of historic ambiance and modern amenities to its members and guests.
The club is currently seeking a Director of Food & Beverage to play a pivotal leadership role within its distinguished dining operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager/COO, the Director of Food & Beverage will oversee all front-of-house dining and beverage services, managing an annual food and beverage revenue of approximately 2.3 million dollars. This critical position holds direct responsibility over outlet management, service standards, staff training, and the day-to-day operation of the club’s dining functions. Working closely with the Clubhouse Manager and Executive Chef, the Director will ensure seamless coordination between culinary excellence and front-of-house service.
This newly established role at Barton Hills presents a unique opportunity for an experienced hospitality or private club professional eager to elevate the member dining experience from a mere transactional interaction into a truly member-focused culture. The successful candidate will build and implement consistent service standards that reflect the club’s quality-driven ethos and foster a welcoming environment. They will develop a practical, hands-on training program aimed at an early-career team, nurturing growth and operational competence among staff. Additionally, the Director will be tasked with strengthening the existing management team, instilling leadership qualities and empowering team members to excel.
Autonomy and leadership are hallmarks of this position, as the Director of Food & Beverage will have genuine authority to shape the service program and oversee the entire dining operation from the ground up. It is an ideal fit for a professional passionate about cultivating a service-oriented culture, driving team development, and creating structured operational frameworks within a supportive club environment. Barton Hills offers a strong foundation combined with exciting potential for future growth, making this role a compelling career advancement opportunity for the right candidate. Interested individuals are encouraged to explore the role and apply confidentially to join one of Michigan's premier private clubs.
