The Director of Finance leads the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, analyzing variances to identify areas for improvement and driving necessary corrective actions. They manage both on-site and off-site accounting functions, including capital planning, budgeting, month-end financial close, cash management, and comprehensive financial reporting. Additionally, this position oversees the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors to ensure accurate adjustments and reconciliations that align audited reports with the hotel's data.
Strong internal controls and risk management are essential components of the Director of Finance's responsibilities. This includes maintaining adherence to Hyatt’s Management Agreements (HMA), fulfilling reporting obligations, ensuring sound internal controls and segregation of duties, and managing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The Director monitors industry trends and regulatory changes to support informed business decisions and safeguard the hotel's financial health.
Operational leadership is another critical aspect of this role. The Director of Finance mentors and coaches the finance team, fostering professional growth and building future leaders within the organization. They are also responsible for overseeing the Information Technology and Procurement functions, requiring a deep understanding of hotel operations and back-office processes. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, hospitality, business or related field preferred
- Minimum 10 years progressive finance experience
- At least 5 years in a Director-level leadership role within hospitality or similar complex industry
- Strong knowledge of financial management and reporting
- Experience managing audits and compliance, including SOX
- Excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively and embrace change
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Job Qualifications
- 10 years or more of finance career progression
- Preferred experience in hospitality, retail, or related industry
- Five or more years in Director-level leadership within hospitality or complex environments
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business or related field preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Job Duties
