The role of Director of Food and Beverage at Hotel Burbank is a critical leadership position responsible for the holistic management and operational success of all food and beverage outlets, banquets, and kitchen functions within the hotel. This is a hands-on role that requires a dynamic leader adept at balancing the administrative and guest service aspects of food and beverage management. The Director will ensure compliance with health standards, OSHA safety regulations, and responsible alcohol service protocols, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction across all venues. They will lead daily operations while maintaining a strong floor presence during peak times and events, directly interacting with guests to foster exceptional service relationships. Acting as a manager on duty (MOD), this leader will hold full accountability for service standards, team support, and guest experience.

Financial stewardship is a key component of the role, with responsibilities including labor cost management, payroll approvals, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Director will monitor financial performance metrics such as revenue, cost control, and profitability, employing effective inventory management and waste reduction strategies. Operational tasks include managing scheduling, staffing, and overseeing banquet execution from planning to follow-up, ensuring seamless coordination with other hotel departments such as sales, catering, and rooms. The position requires a collaborative approach while steering continuous improvement initiatives through guest feedback analysis and market programming such as seasonal promotions and events.

This position offers an annual compensation between $95,000 and $105,000, with added perks including a 50 percent discount on menu items at the Hotel Burbank Cafe, free parking, and eligibility to participate in employee benefit programs. The Director will lead and develop a highly capable food and beverage leadership team, fostering a positive and high-performance workplace culture aligned with company values. Expertise in operational workflows, point-of-sale and inventory systems such as Micros, BinWise, and Unifocus is essential, alongside a commitment to enforcing SOPs and maintaining operational consistency and accountability. As a public-facing role, the Director will engage with guests, vendors, regulatory agencies, and community contacts, ensuring all aspects of the food and beverage operations advance Hotel Burbank’s reputation as an authentically Los Angeles hospitality destination.

Job Requirements

  • 4 year degree required in a related area
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive food and beverage management experience at a property of similar size
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent English verbal and written
  • Ability to train, direct, supervise and hold staff accountable
  • Leadership skills including motivating, inspiring and goal setting
  • Must participate in required MOD coverage as per business needs
  • Must be able to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) per business needs
  • Ability to sit, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch for eight hours
  • Ability to lift, move or push up to 25 pounds without assistance

Job Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in a related area
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive food and beverage management experience at a similar property

  • Extensive experience in restaurant, bar, banquet, stewarding, kitchen, sales, and catering management preferred
  • Knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, labor management and purchasing preferred
  • Alcohol awareness certification or valid food service permit preferred
  • Experience with Google applications preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, health and sanitation standards, and alcohol service regulations (RBS)
  • Maintain adherence to all company, brand, state, and local requirements
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and in proper working condition
  • Lead daily F&B operations across restaurant, bar, and banquet functions
  • Maintain strong floor presence during peak periods, events, and service shifts
  • Serve as MOD for F&B to ensure service standards, guest satisfaction, and team support
  • Champion the guest dining experience by monitoring and responding to feedback
