In the role of Director of Events, you will be a key leader driving the success of the hotel's event department. This position involves orchestrating every detail of meetings, social events, and VIP functions, ensuring flawless coordination across clients, banquet teams, and hotel management. You will lead the Events Department to meet revenue, profitability, and guest satisfaction goals while overseeing budgets, forecasting, and planning. Managing complex event operations—including weekends, holidays, and peak periods—is critical, alongside building strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service. You will collaborate across departments such as Food & Beverage, Culinary, Banquet Operations, and Sales to deliver unique and memorable event experiences that align with brand standards and client expectations.

The Director of Events also ensures compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and standard operating procedures, while leading and developing team members to achieve business growth and departmental objectives. This role demands strong financial acumen, experience in event management within luxury hotels, and the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event planning systems, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, are required to excel. Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years of catering, event management, hospitality sales, or event execution experience in a full-service or luxury hotel environment
  • Director-level experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex events, multiple projects, and competing priorities
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, pricing, contract negotiations, basic mathematical calculations related to event operations
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, banquet services, audiovisual requirements, room set-ups, menu planning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience with hotel property management and event planning systems preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, negotiation, conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, extended hours

  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with clients, team members, and leadership
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage the Events Department to achieve revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, and operational performance goals
  • Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, revenue projections, expenses, and profitability
  • Oversee event operations, staffing, and management coverage to ensure seamless execution of events including weekends, holidays, and high-volume periods
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, event planning, site visits, problem resolution, and post-event follow-up
  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage leadership, Culinary teams, Banquet Operations, and Sales teams to establish service standards, create unique event experiences, and ensure successful event execution
  • Direct event planning activities including VIP events, themed functions, special events, holiday programs, room set-ups, and banquet operations
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, billing procedures, contract requirements, information protection practices, and standard operating procedures
  • Lead, develop, and support team members to drive exceptional service, business growth, account retention, and achievement of departmental objectives
  • Maintain event records, client files, and business documentation
  • analyze market trends and participate in community and professional organizations to support business development efforts
  • Promote a professional image of the organization by maintaining high standards of appearance, safety, cleanliness, and guest service
