The role of Director of Events at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Villas is a dynamic leadership position responsible for overseeing the overall standards of Event Sales and Event Planning. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director manages and supervises Event Managers and administrative staff, ensuring the highest standards of service, training, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who is proficient in all aspects of event management, including booking, proposal preparation, presentations, documentation, and coordination with various hotel departments. The Director of Events plays a crucial role in achieving individual and overall property event sales goals, managing budgets, developing marketing plans, and driving catering revenue growth. Collaboration is key, as the Director works closely with chefs to create innovative menus, partners with banquet teams to maintain quality standards, and leads event meetings to foster teamwork and alignment.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Must possess minimum 2 years of experience as Director of Events
  • Preferred experience with hotel pre-opening
  • Possess a service oriented style and professional presentation skills
  • Degree in hotel or hospitality preferred
  • Must demonstrate high energy and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Successfully complete background check

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience as Director of Events
  • With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • Hotel or hospitality degree an asset
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of Event Sales and Event Planning
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas
  • Develop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
  • Experience evaluating each piece of event business to ensure business can be properly serviced
  • Monitor sales performance of Event Sales Managers
  • Ability to put together creative and innovative menus based on skills of the kitchen
  • Work closely with Chef on pricing specialty menus
  • Train, supervise and work with event staff, in order to solicit and book banquet and event functions, as well as the planning, merchandising and execution of the functions
  • Work closely with Banquet Manager and their team to create and ensure quality levels are being met on a daily basis as well as enhancing overall banquet set-ups
  • Leads event team to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel Event sales objectives
  • Administer all phases of the event department, including but not limited to sales, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative procedures
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
