Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Five or more years of relevant experience in catering or related fields
- Two years supervisory or management experience preferred
- Ability to lead and train staff
- Strong computer skills including MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and alternate shifts
- Must wear slip-resistant shoes and follow safety protocols
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments including exposure to heat, noise and odors
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management desired
- Five or more years of related and progressive Catering, Conference/Event Services, Banquet, Culinary, or similar experience
- Two years supervisory or managerial experience preferred
- Solid knowledge of catering management, luxury hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Strong sales and negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to use hotel telephone and computer systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and solve practical problems
- Ability to read and interpret business documents and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
Job Duties
- Provides guidance and direction to ensure overall departmental success
- Manages subordinate Event Services staff including hiring, training, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining
- Actively solicits new business opportunities through prospecting and networking
- Creates and maintains banquet event orders (BEO) ensuring event accuracy and client communication
- Participates in hiring process and management training following Human Resources policies
- Prepares and manages annual budgets, controls expenses, and maximizes profitability using data analysis
- Ensures exceptional guest service by communicating across departments and handling guest concerns promptly
- Enforces safety policies including wearing required PPE and reporting hazards
- Makes merit decisions within budget guidelines
- Approves leave and time away per company policies
- Responds to guest inquiries and coordinates special requests
- Resolves guest complaints or escalates to management
