The role of the Director of Events at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Villas is a pivotal and dynamic leadership position, reporting directly to the General Manager. This full-time role is tailored for a motivated and experienced professional passionate about delivering unforgettable experiences to guests while spearheading the resort’s event sales and planning operations. The Director of Events is responsible for managing the overall standards of Event Sales and Event Planning, which includes supervising Event Managers and administrative staff. This role emphasizes continuous staff training and administrative oversight, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively to meet and exceed property event goals. The Director of Events must be proficient in every aspect of the Event Manager position, combining deep knowledge of event management with strong leadership capabilities.

Key responsibilities include preparing and presenting proposals and presentations that attract potential clients, maintaining organized documentation and reports, and utilizing Hyatt’s advanced technology systems for seamless event coordination. The Director works closely with hotel operations staff to coordinate customer service requirements and leads or participates in various event, sales, and staff meetings. Collaborative teamwork with the events, catering, banquet, and support staff is essential for successful event execution and customer satisfaction.

The Director's strategic responsibilities extend to short and long-term planning, budget development and management, and the creation and implementation of effective marketing plans to maximize catering and event sales revenue. This role requires experience evaluating event business opportunities to ensure proper service delivery, monitoring the sales performance of the Event Sales Managers, and collaborating closely with culinary teams on menu creation and pricing. A significant part of the role is coaching and motivating event staff to uphold Hyatt’s high standards and deliver exceptional experiences. The Director leads the event team to foster long-term, value-based customer relationships that drive the success of the property’s event sales objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Completion of background check
  • Minimum 2 years experience as Director of Events
  • Experience in hospitality or hotel industry
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Hotel or hospitality degree preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience as Director of Events, preferably with Hyatt
  • Prior hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Hotel or hospitality degree an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with diverse cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and management of Event Sales and Event Planning
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manage within those approved plans
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas
  • Develop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
  • Evaluate each piece of event business to ensure it can be properly serviced
  • Monitor sales performance of Event Sales Managers
  • Put together creative and innovative menus based on kitchen skills
  • Work closely with Chef on pricing specialty menus
  • Train, supervise and work with event staff to solicit and book banquet and event functions
  • Collaborate with Banquet Manager and team to create and ensure quality levels on daily basis
  • Lead event team to build long-term, value-based customer relationships
  • Administer all phases of the event department including sales, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative procedures
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
