Job Requirements
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Completion of background check
- Minimum 2 years experience as Director of Events
- Experience in hospitality or hotel industry
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Excellent organizational skills
- Service-oriented mindset
- Hotel or hospitality degree preferred
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of prior experience as Director of Events, preferably with Hyatt
- Prior hotel pre-opening experience preferred
- Hotel or hospitality degree an asset
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with diverse cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
- High energy and entrepreneurial spirit
- Motivational leadership ability
- Effective communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication in English
Job Duties
- Responsible for short and long term planning and management of Event Sales and Event Planning
- Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manage within those approved plans
- Maintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areas
- Develop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
- Evaluate each piece of event business to ensure it can be properly serviced
- Monitor sales performance of Event Sales Managers
- Put together creative and innovative menus based on kitchen skills
- Work closely with Chef on pricing specialty menus
- Train, supervise and work with event staff to solicit and book banquet and event functions
- Collaborate with Banquet Manager and team to create and ensure quality levels on daily basis
- Lead event team to build long-term, value-based customer relationships
- Administer all phases of the event department including sales, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative procedures
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
