Job Description

Encore is a leading provider of event technology and production services, renowned for delivering exceptional audio-visual and event solutions to a diverse range of clients in the hospitality and entertainment industries. Operating primarily within hotels, convention centers, and various event venues, Encore has established itself as an innovative and customer-focused company dedicated to creating memorable experiences through state-of-the-art technology and unparalleled service. With a presence in multiple locations, Encore supports a dynamic team environment that values collaboration, continuous learning, and a client-centric approach.

The role of Director, Event Technology (SNE) at Encore is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the operational and financial aspects of assigned venue locations. This position directly influences both the profitability and customer satisfaction of the venues it manages, with a venue revenue range between $450k to $900k. Reporting to senior venue leadership such as Area Directors, Regional Directors, or Regional Vice Presidents, the Director will manage a small team of fewer than two full-time employees while setting the standard for excellence in event technology execution.

The Director, Event Technology is tasked with driving results by maximizing revenue and controlling costs consistent with Encore's operational standards. The role involves hands-on leadership in daily floor operations, ensuring timely and flawless execution of equipment setup, operation, and strike for events. The Director also plays a vital role in maintaining strong relationships with venue partners and clients at all organizational levels to foster customer retention and renewal of business contracts.

An essential component of this role involves financial management duties such as labor cost control, equipment sub-rental monitoring, and overseeing billing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. The Director leverages operational and financial reports for forecasting and business reviews, while also managing profit and loss statements and developing strategies to address areas needing improvement.

From a technical standpoint, the Director must have a thorough understanding of audio-visual equipment troubleshooting, software issues, and advanced technical problem solving. They may act as the solo on-site technician when required, applying their expertise to maintain high-quality service standards on every event.

On the sales front, the Director formulates strategies to maximize event revenue through upselling and cross-selling opportunities, prepares and delivers compelling presentations, and collaborates effectively with vendors and internal departments to secure and service events. They maintain up-to-date customer information in the CRM system and remain knowledgeable about emerging technologies and service offerings in the event technology space.

Customer service excellence is paramount, with the Director expected to exceed internal and external customer expectations by ensuring equipment is set up correctly and functioning, monitoring venue operations, and supporting team members in delivering world-class service. They foster a professional image aligned with brand standards and adhere to established appearance guidelines.

People development is another major focus of the Director, as they promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. They manage staffing, coach team members, oversee performance management, and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within their team.

The work environment is varied, with team members working in both indoor hotel and convention center settings exposed to varying noise levels, outdoor elements, and physical demands such as lifting, bending, climbing, and operating specialized equipment. Flexibility is needed due to irregular working hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

This position offers a salary range of $43,304 to $56,296, with additional compensation possible based on experience, location, skills, and other factors such as overtime or bonuses. Encore is committed to providing comprehensive benefits and fostering an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture that celebrates diversity and individual strengths.
