The role of Director of Event Services is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all ticketed events at Akins Ford Arena. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director plays a crucial role in ensuring successful event operations from the initial stages of planning through to final financial settlement. This role requires strong leadership capabilities as it involves managing a team of Event Planners, Coordinators, and support staff, ensuring that every event meets the highest standards of client and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities include overseeing all arena event management activities, leading front-of-house planning such as hospitality services, staffing logistics, and coordinating closely with various internal departments including ticketing, food and beverage, security, and technical teams. The Director will be instrumental in managing budgets, ensuring billing accuracy, and maintaining compliance with safety and crowd management protocols. The position also emphasizes operational improvements, staff recruitment, training, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Candidates for this role are expected to have 2-5 years of relevant event management experience within similar venues and preferably hold a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in event operations, crowd management, budget oversight, and labor planning is essential. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital to success in this role, along with CPR certification or the willingness to obtain one and a valid driver’s license.
