The position of Event Planning Manager at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is a pivotal role within the event management team. This management role is responsible for overseeing the daily functions and staff within the event planning department, which includes Senior Event Managers, Event Managers, Associate Event Managers, and Administrative Assistants. The Event Planning Manager ensures the smooth transition between the various stages of event execution, from the pre-event preparation phases to post-event wrap-ups, guaranteeing seamless coordination between sales and operations teams. The manager plays a crucial role in maximizing revenue opportunities by up-selling catering and group room blocks across all events while maintaining an accurate forecast to support financial objectives.

In addition to operational oversight, the Event Planning Manager leads the team in adherence to departmental standards, policies, and procedures while fostering a customer-centric culture aimed at delivering outstanding guest satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area

Job Duties

  • Assigns all events turned over to event planning team
  • Oversees function space and group room blocks for turned opportunities
  • Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures
  • Leads execution of activities to support the event management strategy
  • Works with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential conflicts
  • Leads discussions to review event complexity and prevent service challenges
  • Manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet needs
