Job Description
Sheraton Grand Los Angeles, located at 711 S Hope St, Los Angeles, California, is a prominent hotel under the Marriott International portfolio. Renowned for its exceptional hospitality and outstanding guest experiences, Sheraton Grand offers a sophisticated venue for events and accommodations in the heart of Los Angeles. The hotel is part of a global network of Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, known for bringing together diverse guests and associates to create memorable experiences in more than 400 communities worldwide. Sheraton has been recognized as a premier gathering place since its inception in 1937, committed to delivering thoughtful service and engaging environments for all its guests.
The event management team at Sheraton Grand Los Angeles plays a vital role in ensuring that the hotel’s event operations run smoothly, providing high-quality service to a wide range of clients. Currently, Sheraton Grand is seeking a full-time Event Planning Manager who will oversee the daily functions and staff involved in event planning. This managerial position offers an annual salary from $104,000 to $138,000 with bonus eligibility, reflecting the importance and responsibility associated with the role.
As the Event Planning Manager, your primary responsibility will be managing the event planning team, which includes Senior Event Managers, Event Managers, Associate Event Managers, and Administrative Assistants. You will coordinate the entire event planning lifecycle, focusing on seamless transitions between each phase—pre-event, during the event, and post-event activities. The role also involves ensuring excellent communication and collaboration between the sales and operations departments to maximize revenue opportunities through upselling and precise forecasting of catering and group room blocks.
In this leadership role, you will spearhead the development and execution of event management strategies, manage client budgets while enhancing customer satisfaction, and maintain inventories for optimal service delivery. You will work with highly complex or high-profile groups with significant financial impacts, supporting the sales and marketing efforts by forming relationships with outside vendors and establishing beneficial agreements. Your middleware role between sales, planning, and operational teams will ensure events meet or exceed client expectations while driving the hotel's financial success.
Further, the role includes leading the catering menu development process, conducting regular team meetings, and enforcing company standards, policies, and procedures. Providing exceptional customer service is a key focus, as you will monitor guest satisfaction metrics, address complaints, and implement improvements to enhance overall guest experience. Empowering your team to deliver excellent hospitality and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations will be critical components of your leadership.
In addition to operational and service excellence, this position requires attention to human resources responsibilities such as setting customer service guidelines, overseeing staff training on guest expectations, providing performance feedback, and ensuring adequate staffing to support services and event planning needs.
Sheraton Grand Los Angeles values diversity and inclusivity, committed to providing equal employment opportunities without regard to any protected characteristic. Embracing a culture that celebrates the unique backgrounds and talents of its associates, the hotel fosters an environment of respect and opportunity for all employees. Joining the Sheraton family means joining a supportive global community where employees can truly belong, grow, and become the best version of themselves.
