The role of Manager of Event Operations at JW Marriott Los Angeles is a full-time management position focused on overseeing all aspects of event service, banquet, and event technology operations. This critical leadership role involves managing a diverse team including Senior Banquet Managers, Banquet Managers, Senior Event Service Managers, Event Service Managers, and Event Technology and Operations Managers. The manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of service delivery throughout the event lifecycle, from planning to execution, thereby maximizing guest satisfaction and revenue potential. This role demands a strong business acumen to manage departmental budgets effectively and implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and profitability.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • Or two-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • Two years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • Ability to manage and lead diverse teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in budget and operational management
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and certification maintenance
  • Capability to build relationships with clients, vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Flexibility to attend events and meetings as needed

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage all event service, banquet and event technology operations and staff daily
  • Oversee execution of event logistics and administrative processes during event phases
  • Ensure function space and equipment are clean, maintained, and inventory is managed according to corporate guidelines
  • Communicate and implement departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff training in safety
  • Participate in technician certification audits and maintain employee certification compliance
  • Develop and implement business plans and long-term strategies for event operations
  • Monitor budgets and adjust expenditures to ensure profitability
  • Consult with clients to determine event objectives and requirements
  • Lead event operations meetings and coordinate event delivery teams
  • Work with culinary team to comply with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, guests, vendors, and competitors
  • Review staffing levels to meet guest service and operational needs
  • Ensure documentation and disciplinary procedures comply with SOPs and support peer review
  • Attend pre-event meetings to set expectations and troubleshoot potential challenges
  • Champion all standards, policies, and procedures in event operations department
