This position is a full-time, management role located at The Ritz-Carlton property in Arlington, Virginia. The role offers an annual salary range between $104,000 and $139,000, with eligibility for bonuses and a $7,500 sign-on bonus payable after 90 days. As the leader of the Event Operations Department, you will be responsible for managing all event service, banquet, and event technology operations and staff. This includes oversight of Senior Banquet Managers, Banquet Managers, Senior Event Service Managers, Event Service Managers, and Event Technology and Operations Managers. The core focus is to ensure the highest level of service throughout all event phases, maximize revenue opportunities through effective upselling strategies, and manage costs to maximize profitability.

In this role, you will develop and implement business plans and long-term strategies for event operations, establish measurable goals for the department, and ensure that all standards, policies, and procedures are championed throughout the event operations teams. You will oversee the logistics and administrative processes related to events, ensuring function spaces and associated areas are maintained to corporate standards. Inventory, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety procedures will be under your management. You will participate in audits and certifications for event technicians and support corporate initiatives and promotions related to events.

A significant aspect of your responsibilities includes managing the department's financial performance by monitoring budgets, adjusting expenditures based on revenues, and integrating current event management trends into operations. Providing exceptional customer service is paramount, requiring you to consult with clients to understand their objectives and ensure high guest satisfaction that promotes business retention and growth.

Additionally, you will lead event management teams by coordinating meetings, supporting the Event Management strategy, and ensuring effective communication within all event operation sectors. Collaboration with culinary teams, human resources, and other property departments is necessary to maintain compliance with food handling, sanitation, legal regulations, and safety standards. You will also manage staffing levels, troubleshoot potential challenges, and handle disciplinary procedures according to established protocols.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related professional area
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of budget management
  • Ability to work full-time at the Arlington, Virginia location
  • Eligibility to receive a $7,500 sign-on bonus payable in 90 days

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
