The current opening is for an Interim Director of Development at a Social Justice Nonprofit located in the Hyde Park/Woodlawn area of Chicago, IL. This is a full-time, temporary hybrid position offering an hourly wage ranging between $43.00 and $48.00. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Interim Director of Development plays a critical leadership role in securing the organization's financial health and sustainability. The position requires a dynamic leader experienced in managing comprehensive fundraising programs including foundation and state grants. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining external relationships, enhancing impact measurement systems, and driving the overall fundraising strategy.

This role involves not only strategic oversight but also hands-on involvement in grant securing, donor engagement, and event management. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Job Duties

  • Partner with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board to set and execute annual fundraising strategy and goals
  • Oversee implementation of the development plan and design strategies for growth across all fundraising areas
  • Track and report fundraising performance to the Executive Director and Board
  • Participate in Board meetings and committees as needed
  • Collaborate on budgeting, revenue forecasting, and financial planning
  • Lead data-driven evaluation of fundraising outcomes to inform strategy
  • Strengthen Board engagement and fundraising capacity
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and deepen investor relationships
  • Research and pursue grant opportunities
  • Draft, submit, and manage proposals and reports
  • Develop strategies to grow and sustain annual individual giving
  • Align donor interests with organizational mission and priorities
  • Lead annual giving efforts including online giving and direct mail
  • Manage and expand major gifts and planned giving programs
  • Partner with the Executive Director to design and execute philanthropic events
  • Oversee event logistics and staff/contractor support
  • Build and manage a comprehensive corporate giving strategy
  • Develop annual grant strategy
