The role of Director of Culinary Services at Conservatory at Alden Bridge is a critical leadership position within the community. This full-time, exempt position commands a salary that previously approximated $80,000, pending regional confirmation, and includes eligibility for a 10% annual critical position bonus. The Director of Culinary Services is responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership of the Culinary Services Department, with a focus on ensuring exceptional dining experiences aligned with resident preferences and dietary needs. This role demands both operational expertise and a hands-on approach, managing everything from menu planning and food quality to staffing, safety compliance, and budget performance.
As a leader, the Director of Culinary Services will oversee food preparation, sanitation, purchasing, inventory control, and vendor management. Leadership responsibilities also extend to recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating culinary staff while promoting ongoing professional development through orientation and in-service training programs. The position is integral to enhancing resident satisfaction by fostering meaningful connections during meal times and swiftly addressing any concerns. Collaboration with the Executive Director and other department heads ensures that culinary services support the broader goals of the community. Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of culinary leadership experience
- food safety certification
- strong knowledge of sanitation and food handling practices
- culinary training or certification preferred
- experience with menu engineering and cost control
- proficiency with Microsoft Office and kitchen systems
- ability to work minimum 8 hours per day with closing night, weekend coverage, and part of MOD rotation every 5-6 weeks
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of culinary leadership in high-volume, high-standard environments such as country clubs, resorts, or cruise ships
- hands-on experience leading kitchen operations including cooking and staff oversight
- food safety certification required
- strong knowledge of sanitation, food handling, and loss prevention practices
- culinary training or certification preferred
- experience with menu engineering, cost controls, and vendor management
- strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Office and kitchen management systems
- experience in senior living culinary services is a plus if paired with demonstrated high service standards
Job Duties
- Lead daily culinary operations while participating in meal preparation and service
