As a well-established entity, Boys & Girls Clubs is committed to creating opportunities for children and teenagers to thrive socially, academically, and physically, working closely with families and community partners to maximize impact.
Within this dynamic environment, the role of Director of Culinary Services is crucial. This position offers full-time employment with a weekday schedule, Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and a salary range that will be determined based on experience. The Director oversees all food service operations at the Union Street kitchen and cafeteria, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations including the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Responsibilities encompass comprehensive menu planning across a minimum two-week cycle, food preparation, inventory management, staff supervision, and event catering. The Director will ensure all kitchen operations meet high standards of quality, safety, and hygiene, maintaining compliance with federal food safety and allergy protocols.
This leadership role requires a strong background in commercial kitchen management with experience in CACFP and SFSP programs preferred. The ideal candidate will effectively manage budgets, vendor relations, and kitchen equipment maintenance, while promoting healthy eating and responsible food practices. Supervision and mentorship of kitchen staff are key components, fostering a professional and efficient team environment that aligns with the club's mission and organizational goals. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with the Director of Operations to support programmatic goals and participate in special events requiring food service support.
The position demands excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel capabilities for budgeting and reporting. Candidates must also hold ServSafe certification and a valid driver’s license and be prepared to pass a background check. Physical demands include lifting and transporting supplies, performing routine physical tasks, and maintaining energy in a fast-paced kitchen setting. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, paid time off, paid holidays, childcare benefits, and wellness support. It is an excellent opportunity for a culinary professional committed to mentorship and quality food service within a meaningful community-focused organization.
