The Group Sales Manager role at Valor Hospitality is a crucial position that focuses on maximizing revenue and profit through meticulous planning, solicitation, booking, and coordination of group meetings and room sales. This role is responsible for overseeing all sales activities in an assigned market, aiming to exceed revenue goals by identifying effective strategies and action plans to grow market share and develop new business accounts. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with meeting planners to design and execute events that align with client objectives and uphold hotel standards, ensuring seamless coordination of guest accommodations, event spaces, audiovisual requirements, catering menus, décor, and transportation logistics. A key aspect of the role includes creating detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, and internal communications that clearly outline event details, facilitating flawless interdepartmental coordination among Banquets, Culinary, Front Office, and Engineering departments.
Client relationship management forms a significant portion of the position, where the Group Sales Manager acts as the primary contact throughout the event lifecycle, from initial planning to post-event follow-up. This involves conducting pre-conference meetings to review logistics and introduce key personnel, providing on-site support during events to ensure guest satisfaction, and managing post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify future business opportunities. Financial accountability is also a core responsibility, with the manager tasked to maximize event profitability through upselling and careful management of group billing, timely posting of charges, and tracking of attrition or cancellation fees per contractual agreements. The role demands consistent communication and collaboration with Sales, Revenue, and Operations teams to ensure smooth transitions from booking through event execution, requiring a cooperative and professional approach with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
To support these efforts, the Group Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate client and event information in CRM systems such as Delphi and Amadeus, ensuring adherence to hotel policies, brand standards, and safety procedures. They must also safeguard financial assets by overseeing contracts and billing processes and stay informed on industry trends to continuously improve service delivery. The role requires physical activity including outside sales calls, group servicing, site inspections, trade shows, and attending industry events. Valor offers a competitive salary along with daily pay options, team member discounts, uniforms, health benefits, paid time off, 401k retirement plans, food and beverage discounts, and tuition reimbursement, creating a comprehensive benefits package that supports both professional and personal growth. This position is ideal for professionals who have a passion for hospitality, creativity, and the ability to manage complex projects with a team-oriented mindset.
