The Director of Community Impact at United Way Ozarks Region is a vital leadership role responsible for designing and implementing dynamic community engagement initiatives that connect the public with the organization's mission. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this exempt-level position serves as a bridge between United Way leadership, volunteers, partner nonprofits, and community stakeholders. The director leads several signature programs, including the Day of Caring, United for Greatness, and Community Field Trip, which are central to fostering meaningful volunteerism and community support. This role involves strategic partnership development with corporations and community organizations to cultivate a robust volunteer base, ensuring that volunteer activities are impactful and aligned with United Way's goals.
The Director of Community Impact also manages all operational aspects of community engagement programs such as budgeting, vendor management, staffing, communications, and data analysis. They oversee the implementation of United Way's community investment process, which includes recruitment and facilitation of the Community Investment Committee, program assessment, and impact measurement. The role requires oversight of multiple online volunteer portals, including Volunteer Ozarks and GivePulse, and intensive coordination with media partners to amplify volunteer opportunities. Effective communication and promotional strategies are critical components, with collaboration required alongside the Director of Communications to develop timely content for web, social media, and print channels.
In addition to program management, this position involves representing United Way Ozarks professionally at public events and presentations, participating in meetings during varied hours, and committing to ongoing professional development. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, project management, education, or a related field preferred but not required
- at least one year of professional experience in nonprofit work, event planning, program assessment, direct service provider, or volunteer management required
- management or supervisory experience preferred
- experience in event planning preferred
- proficiency with software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, and Canva preferred
- ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision
- flexibility and resilience in managing stress and adapting to changing priorities

Job Duties
- Cultivate relationships with corporate and community volunteers
- partner with external organizations to identify new engagement opportunities and create meaningful volunteer experiences
- plan and execute the Day of Caring event in partnership with the Director of Communication and Events
- manage and guide community engagement programs and events including budgeting, communications, vendor management, staffing, analysis, and reporting
- develop and maintain accurate records of sponsorships, participation, and event attendance
- collaborate with the Director of Communications to request design promotional materials and ensure timely execution of web, social media, and print content
- coordinate with KY3 and other partners to promote volunteer opportunities and the Volunteer Ozarks website
- manage online volunteer portals and ensure data accuracy in donor management software
- oversee the annual Community Investment process and communications with partner nonprofits
- recruit and facilitate the Community Investment Committee
- conduct research and development of interventions and programs
- measure and report impact data
