The role of Director of Catering Sales at Oak View Group offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic sales team within one of the most well-respected live entertainment companies globally. This full-time position features an annual salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 and includes eligibility for bonuses, underlining the value placed on performance and results. The Director of Catering Sales plays a pivotal role by driving sales efforts and securing catering contracts for the venue, thereby directly contributing to the venue’s revenue and operational success.
The individual in this leadership role will oversee all catering sales efforts including lead generation, account management, and coordination of large group catering contracts. They will manage leads obtained through multiple channels, including subscription-based third-party event lead platforms, and represent the venue's catering brand at various trade shows, chamber events, and community networking opportunities. As a key figure, the Director will lead daily and weekly sales team meetings to monitor progress, convey strategic objectives, and guide the overall sales approach.
Additionally, the Director is responsible for maintaining detailed sales reporting and developing future budgets, ensuring informed decision-making and strategic planning. They will personally handle complex contracts and event management tasks – from conducting site visits and tastings to contract negotiation, event planning, and reception coordination. Balancing solo work and team leadership, the Director will spend the majority of their time soliciting new business, including smaller group and social event leads that can be distributed amongst the team, while also nurturing strong existing client relationships to encourage repeat business.
Providing exemplary customer service is a core responsibility, which entails addressing sales and service issues, resolving invoice questions promptly, and advising on suitable menu selections. The role requires excellent communication skills to ensure smooth information flow between clients, vendors, and internal departments. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 plus years of hospitality sales experience preferably in catering sales
- ability to negotiate and finalize contracts
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Office and POS systems
- ability to work independently and manage a team

Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 plus years of related hospitality sales experience preferably in catering sales
- proven success in catering sales generation, contract negotiation, event scheduling, training, catering, banquets, and menu development
- ability to work independently both on and off venue property with minimal supervision
- proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel
- working knowledge of POS systems
- excellent business etiquette and professional verbal and written communication skills
- ability to represent the company positively and knowledgeably
- commitment to confidentiality and discretion
- strong attention to detail and accuracy

Job Duties
- Build relationships by networking and prospecting with key decision-makers
- establish and develop strong and effective relationships with influencers
- responsible for lead tracking and reporting of all leads including organic, third-party platforms, cold calls, repeat connections, referrals, and grassroots marketing efforts
- manage and distribute leads to the team as needed by market segment
- maintain updated lead tracking log to increase conversion rates on booking platforms
- coordinate and deliver effective sales presentations
- independently source and pursue outside networking opportunities
- negotiate, author, and submit finalized contracts and BEOs per event space rate sheets and sales guarantees
- address and coordinate all catering requirements and requests in a timely manner
- maintain accurate records of all catering sales activities
- communicate daily with food and beverage managers, culinary, catering, and operations staff about guest needs
- maintain an extensive client database for follow-up sales calls and contacts
- assist with guest experience follow-up to ensure issues are addressed
- prepare and administer PACE sales activity reports
- attend and lead catering sales meetings and other venue meetings as required
- assist in planning and coordination of catered events
- serve as primary group and event contact post-contract signing
- assist with oversight of accounts receivable for events
- perform other duties as assigned
