This job opening is for the position of Director of Catering Conference Services at a hotel operated by an independent franchisee associated with a well-known brand. The hotel is a full-service establishment that focuses on providing exceptional meeting, event, and catered experiences for a broad range of clients, including corporate, association, social, wedding, and local market segments. The hotel operates in a dynamic hospitality environment, prioritizing operational excellence, client satisfaction, and revenue growth. The franchisee manages the hotel's employment practices, including recruiting, hiring, salary, and benefits, so candidates will be employed directly by the franchisee rather than the franchise brand itself. This distinction impacts benefit eligibility and compensation as the franchisee controls these aspects independently.

The role of Director of Catering Conference Services is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall leadership and commercial success of the catering and conference services department within the hotel. This position demands a strategic thinker who is able to balance high-level leadership with hands-on operational support for complex events and key client relationships. The Director oversees the full client journey, from the initial inquiry stage through event execution and follow-up, ensuring seamless communication and exceptional guest experiences. Additionally, the role requires managing departmental budgets, forecasting, and financial performance, as well as identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiencies.

A key focus for this position is driving proactive business development and strategic sales that optimize revenue across multiple market segments, including corporate and social events. The Director leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing catering and conference services team, fostering accountability and collaboration while maintaining exceptional service standards. This role acts as the senior point of contact for high-profile VIP clients and complex business opportunities while partnering closely with other hotel departments such as sales, banquets, culinary, front office, and food and beverage teams to maximize total hotel revenue.

Candidates for this position should bring a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in hotel catering, conference services, and event leadership within a full-service hotel environment. Proven success in revenue growth, team management, financial acumen, and client relationship management is essential. Experience with the Hilton brand is preferred but not required. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are critical to succeed in this fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, strategic, composed under pressure, and driven to deliver outstanding hospitality experiences.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive hotel catering conference services and event leadership experience in a full-service hotel environment
  • Demonstrated success leading catering event revenue growth and managing high-performing teams
  • Strong background in hotel catering sales conference services operations and client relationship management
  • Proven financial acumen including budgeting forecasting profitability analysis and revenue strategy
  • Exceptional leadership communication negotiation and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead strategically while maintaining operational credibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Hilton experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead the overall catering and conference services operation with accountability for revenue growth client satisfaction team performance and operational excellence
  • Drive proactive business development strategic sales efforts and revenue optimization across corporate association social wedding and local market segments
  • Lead coach and develop the Catering and Conference Services team fostering accountability collaboration and exceptional service standards
  • Oversee the full client journey from initial inquiry through event execution and final follow-up ensuring seamless communication strong partnerships and outstanding guest experiences
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for VIP clients complex business opportunities escalated service matters and high-profile events
  • Manage departmental budgeting forecasting financial performance and administrative compliance while identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Partner closely with Sales Banquets Culinary Front Office and Food and Beverage teams to ensure aligned execution and maximize total hotel revenue
