Managed by General Hotels Corporation, a company with over 60 years of experience in hotel management and a strong reputation for award-winning service, this property prides itself on delivering outstanding guest experiences and maintaining high standards of excellence. General Hotels Corporation, headquartered in the Midwest, is one of the largest hotel management companies in the region and is deeply committed to enriching lives through hospitality. They emphasize the importance of their associates and promote career growth from within, creating a supportive and dynamic work environment. The Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station is currently seeking a motivated and experienced hospitality professional to join their leadership team as the Director of Catering.
This department head role is critical for overseeing all catering operations within the hotel. The Director of Catering will be responsible for leading and developing a skilled catering team, ensuring the smooth and successful solicitation, booking, and execution of banquet and catering events. This position plays a vital role in driving revenue, maximizing profitability, and enhancing guest satisfaction by strategically managing the hotel’s meeting and event spaces. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to cultivate strong relationships, secure repeat and new business, and maintain a high level of service excellence. Furthermore, the Director of Catering is tasked with training, mentoring, and supervising catering staff while developing and implementing effective sales strategies targeted to meet or exceed financial goals.
Additional responsibilities include conducting hotel site inspections to showcase facilities to prospective clients, preparing and managing quarterly action plans, maintaining detailed records and reports on sales and catering activities, and collaborating with other departments to support overall hotel operations. The role requires someone who is creative, enthusiastic, well-organized, and goal-oriented, with the ability to lead a team and actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and client meetings. Experience is essential, particularly three to five years working within hotel catering sales. The Director of Catering will also assist the Director of Sales on special projects as needed and contribute to a collaborative, professional leadership team dedicated to excellence.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned catering professional to take on a pivotal leadership role within a well-established hotel, supported by a respected management company. The role not only promises professional growth but also the chance to make a significant impact on the hotel’s success and reputation within the Indianapolis hospitality market.
