The Director of Bars and Nightlife at Dream Nashville is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, management, and day-to-day operations of all nightlife venues and beverage programs within the hotel. This position is pivotal in crafting innovative and experiential programming that not only enhances the guest experience but also drives strong financial performance and profitability. The director will lead a talented team of professionals, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and fostering a customer-centric culture. Key responsibilities include managing promotional plans to increase sales, maintaining beverage inventory and vendor relationships, and coordinating all operational systems for seamless venue management. The role requires a hands-on leader who remains visible and engaged during peak operational hours, capable of balancing creative vision with solid financial acumen.

Furthermore, the Director of Bars and Nightlife will collaborate closely with the hotel’s Food and Beverage Director and executive committee to provide comprehensive reports and insights aimed at achieving long-term business goals. Managing human resources functions within the division is also critical, involving hiring, training, performance management, and maintaining a motivated and empowered team. The ideal candidate must possess deep knowledge of the Nashville nightlife scene and hospitality industry, exhibit strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to remain composed under pressure with a positive and energetic attitude. This role promotes a team-oriented approach where the leader sets an example by being service-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to operational excellence, all while ensuring guest satisfaction and safety are top priorities.

Job Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of the nightlife business and Nashville music scene
  • minimum of five years of restaurant and bar management experience
  • demonstrated ability to run shifts independently
  • experience creating and implementing new concepts in hospitality

Job Duties

  • Directs and assists in the development of competitive promotional plans to increase business levels and sales
  • provides customer intelligence for market and economic trend evaluation
  • maintains a strong presence on venue floors during peak times
  • monitors and manages beverage inventory levels and costs
  • places orders within cost control procedures
  • maintains relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • manages beverage programming across all nightlife venues
  • coordinates key stakeholders including bartenders, service staff, marketing, talent, A/V, security, and operations
  • monitors month-end financial reports and provides feedback to executive committee and ownership
  • works closely with hotel F&B director
  • reinforces a customer service mentality among staff
  • promptly and respectfully resolves guest requests and concerns
  • interviews and hires bar team to maintain proper staffing
  • ensures operational systems and procedures are effective and consistently applied
  • oversees seamless day-to-day operations
  • manages and develops managerial and professional staff
  • ensures accurate and timely payroll processing
  • maintains good customer relations and knowledge of local events
  • manages cash transaction procedures and personal bank responsibilities
  • maintains a friendly and courteous demeanor
  • implements emergency procedures and security training
  • performs additional duties as assigned
  • manages human resources functions including hiring, training, coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
