The YMCA is renowned for its inclusive culture and commitment to fostering a welcoming environment where every member can belong and thrive. They strongly promote values such as genuineness, hopefulness, nurturing, and determination which are key principles guiding their work and community engagement.
The core of the YMCA’s mission is reflected in how it strives daily to support and empower people of all ages and backgrounds. Their community programs range from health and wellness initiatives, sports, aquatics, childcare, and educational programs to social outreach efforts. The YMCA of Greenville is recognized for its emphasis on creating safe and supportive spaces that encourage personal growth, leadership, and positive lifestyle changes. Their facilities, including pools and aquatic centers, serve as vital hubs for healthy living and social interaction.
The Director of Aquatics Operations & Safety plays a critical leadership role within this vibrant organization. Reporting to the Executive Branch Director, this individual is entrusted with providing comprehensive oversight and strategic leadership for all aspects of aquatics operations. This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe, compliant, and nurturing aquatics environment that meets and exceeds YMCA standards. By overseeing staffing, risk management, regulatory compliance, and the operational excellence of aquatic facilities, the Director ensures that members experience a secure, clean, and positive atmosphere at every aquatic interaction.
The responsibilities are both operational and strategic. The Director manages daily pool operations, schedules, staffing, facility readiness, and member engagement to ensure a seamless service delivery. This includes making final decisions related to aquatics safety, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols. Collaboration with the Director of Aquatics Programs & Experience ensures that program delivery aligns with operational capabilities and safety standards. The aquatic areas, being highly visible and influential within the YMCA community, require attentive supervision to foster a welcoming and engaging experience for all.
Beyond operational duties, the role entails leadership in staff recruitment, certification, and ongoing professional development to cultivate a strong safety culture. The Director also plays an important part in financial and administrative oversight, including budget management and resource allocation, ensuring sustainable and efficient aquatic operations.
