Job Description
This job opportunity is offered by a professional legal services firm specializing in comprehensive litigation management. The firm operates with a commitment to exceptional legal support and aims to provide strategic defense and claims resolution services. Known for handling a diverse portfolio of legal cases, the company covers professional liability, general liability, regulatory matters, and commercial litigation sectors, serving a wide range of clients including healthcare providers and enterprises. The firm places a high value on collaboration, detailed case management, and effective communication with both internal teams and external counsel, ensuring successful outcomes through meticulous legal processes and client engagement.
The role of Litigation Attorney is a full-time position designed for a junior attorney with substantial litigation experience. This position involves overseeing all stages of litigation and claims management from the initial service of process through case resolution. As a Litigation Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in managing low to middle-level risk claims while supervising two critical team members — a paralegal and a claims coordinator. This leadership aspect requires adept team management and coordination skills alongside maintaining direct oversight of legal processes.
Key responsibilities include managing responses to claims, complaints, subpoenas, as well as conducting in-depth legal research and the drafting and reviewing of pleadings and discovery responses. The Litigation Attorney will also handle claim summaries, executive reporting, and participate in mediation, trial, and other litigation-related events. Furthermore, managing e-discovery and legal holds is a fundamental part of this role, working under the guidance of more senior attorneys throughout all litigation phases from pre-trial investigation up to settlements or appeals.
In addition to technical legal responsibilities, the role demands strong organizational skills to effectively handle multiple priority projects under tight deadlines, with a focus on confidentiality, particularly when dealing with protected health information (PHI) and sensitive client data. The Litigation Attorney will collaborate closely with internal clients across various departments to facilitate claim resolution processes and manage settlements. Travel requirements are notable for this position, with an estimated 25 to 40 percent travel to regional clients for meetings, mediations, or trials.
This role is well suited for a highly motivated legal professional who is proficient in using legal research tools, e-discovery platforms, and standard office software. It offers significant opportunities to develop expertise in claims management within a dynamic and supportive team environment. The Litigation Attorney will contribute directly to the firm’s ongoing commitment to legal excellence and client service, making it an ideal career path for attorneys who appreciate a balance between hands-on litigation work and team leadership responsibilities.
