Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as director or assistant director of housekeeping in a 5-star or ultra-luxury hotel or resort
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce with knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent leadership and coaching abilities
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of hotel task management systems preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as director or assistant director of housekeeping in a Forbes 5-Star or equivalent ultra-luxury hotel or resort
  • Deep knowledge of Forbes Travel Guide standards and a proven record of maintaining or elevating property inspection scores
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce, specifically with Local 6, and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, scheduling rules, and progressive discipline
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with a strong eye for detail and aesthetics
  • Ability to lead by example, inspire team excellence, and coach for performance and service consistency
  • Fluent in English (additional languages a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Job Duties

  • Lead, train, and inspire a large team of housekeeping professionals including managers, supervisors, room attendants, housemen, and porters
  • Ensure strict compliance with Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star standards and brand expectations
  • Uphold and enhance the highest cleanliness and presentation standards in guest rooms, public areas, and all hotel spaces
  • Build and maintain a respectful, efficient, and compliant working relationship with Local 6 union employees, following CBA guidelines and participating in grievance resolutions as needed
  • Monitor daily operations, conduct detailed inspections, and proactively resolve service issues
  • Forecast staffing needs, manage departmental budgets, and implement cost-control strategies without compromising quality
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Front Office, and other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Drive departmental training programs, service audits, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations (DOH, OSHA, etc.)
  • Report directly to the Hotel Manager and collaborate on long-term strategy, quality assurance, and service innovation
