The Director of Housekeeping role at San Manuel is a pivotal leadership position tasked with the comprehensive management of housekeeping operations in a luxurious hotel setting. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Hospitality and working closely with the Hotel Director of Operations, the incumbent will oversee the planning, organization, development, and execution of all housekeeping department functions. This role demands strategic leadership and operational expertise aimed at continuous improvement of customer satisfaction, product quality, and operational profitability. The Director leads initiatives that standardize procedures and optimize departmental outcomes, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and superior guest service standards are consistently met. This includes managing budgeting processes, forecasting needs, purchasing, and maintaining inventory controls while spearheading employee development and retention strategies. The successful candidate must drive results through effective training programs, staff evaluations, and performance management systems while fostering strong relationships across hotel management and with third-party service vendors.

This leadership role has a strong emphasis on strategic planning and business acumen, requiring the formulation of business plans that align with enterprise-wide objectives and long-term visions. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum eight years of housekeeping operations experience
  • Minimum seven years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to prepare and analyze business strategies with proficiency in budgeting and P&L
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong managerial problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues and delegate appropriately
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning capabilities
  • Must obtain and maintain a gaming license if required by the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Must be able to exert physical strength to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to travel for meetings, trade shows, and conferences
  • Physical ability to safely move in office environments and during travel
  • Sufficient hearing, speech, and visual acuity to perform the duties
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, hospitality, business administration, or similar field preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum eight years of housekeeping operations experience, preferably in luxury hotel or casino environment
  • Minimum seven years of supervisory experience
  • Related, relevant, or direct experience may substitute educational requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proven managerial problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, organizational and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to prepare, understand, present, and analyze business strategies including budgeting and profit and loss management
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues and drive measurable results

Job Duties

  • Organizes, directs, and oversees all housekeeping operations including budgeting and forecasting, purchasing and inventory control, department management, policy implementation and enforcement of procedure and operation standards, and department communications
  • Develops a business plan that supports enterprise initiatives and long-term department vision and direction
  • Ensures all team members consistently meet standards of safety, cleanliness, and maintenance by conducting regular inspections
  • Ensures proper maintenance of housekeeping and laundry equipment and usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies
  • Drives results through staff development and training programs and monitors results
  • Monitors and evaluates all daily departmental activities for successful operations and improvement projects
  • Maintains occupational knowledge by conducting research and attending seminars
  • Monitors fiscal budget, KPI’s, yield management of department inventory, and operations to produce profitability
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with hotel management, associates, and third-party vendors
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient department operation
