The company prides itself on fostering inclusivity, valuing diverse backgrounds, and promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration. Marriott is deeply committed to equality and actively ensures non-discrimination on all protected bases, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all employees.
This leadership role at Marriott, the Director of B2B Events and Experiences, sits at the core of the company's global sales and marketing strategy. This full-time, management-level position, based at Marriott International Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, also offers remote work options for candidates located outside commuting distance. With an annual pay range between $126,900 and $218,300 for onsite positions and $118,900 to $204,400 for remote roles, it offers a competitive compensation package inclusive of bonuses and stock options.
The Director of B2B Events and Experiences is responsible for managing and enhancing the global business-to-business (B2B) events portfolio, encompassing industry trade shows, customer advisory boards, and internal client events for the Global Sales Organization (GSO). This strategic role collaborates closely with the Senior Director, Global Events and Experiences, to develop and execute priority initiatives that align with enterprise key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring projects meet their goals on time and within budget. The position demands a leader who is adept at forging strategic partnerships both internally across continents and externally with diverse stakeholders to create unified messaging and engagement platforms tailored to various client segments.
The successful candidate will leverage customer research and direct client engagement insights to continuously refine B2B offerings and drive revenue growth while managing comprehensive budgets for all events. They will play a pivotal role in collaborating with sales segment leads to design culturally relevant messaging strategies, improving team structure and accountability, and advancing continuous process improvement initiatives. A key responsibility also includes the creation and oversight of an annual global B2B events calendar, synchronization of sponsorship strategies leveraging data analytics to maximize investment returns, and ensuring consistent alignment with the Marriott brand and broader communications within the enterprise.
Emphasizing project management skills, the Director will lead multiple strategic projects and partner across matrix organizations, influencing cross-functional teams to meet objectives. The role requires extensive interaction and partnership with diverse teams, demanding excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in English. Frequent travel is part of the job to maintain close connections with global stakeholders and oversee execution. Marriott International encourages professional growth by offering comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, insurance options, paid parental leave, educational assistance, and a robust 401(k) plan, all supportive of a well-balanced and fulfilling career journey.
This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with at least 8 years of progressive experience in meetings, events, or related functions and a demonstrated track record of excellence. Candidates must possess a 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Marriott's commitment to hybrid work environments fosters a flexible culture that balances connection and autonomy, making this role suitable for those seeking impactful leadership within a dynamic global hospitality powerhouse.
