With a strong presence in the public and private sectors, CGI empowers organizations by leveraging cutting-edge technology and deep industry knowledge to solve complex business challenges. Established as one of the largest firms in its industry, CGI places a strong emphasis on teamwork, respect, a culture of ownership, and belonging for its employees, which it refers to as partners, ensuring a collaborative and rewarding work environment. The company operates globally with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a workplace where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, develop skills, and advance their careers.

The current opening is for the role of Director, Generative AI & Intelligent Automation, located in Sacramento, CA. This position is at the forefront of one of the largest public-sector AI transformation initiatives in the United States, specifically supporting California's statewide AI modernization efforts. The director will play a vital client-facing leadership role, collaborating with government, healthcare, and commercial organizations to translate AI strategy into actionable and measurable business outcomes. As a trusted advisor to CIOs, agency executives, and senior business leaders, the director will lead efforts to move organizations from initial AI experiments to fully scalable, responsible enterprise-wide adoption. This role uniquely blends executive advisory, business development, technical leadership, and delivery enablement to drive meaningful transformation through generative AI and intelligent automation solutions.

This leadership position requires a comprehensive understanding of generative AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent automation platforms. The director will lead proof-of-concept initiatives, define scalable AI architectures, and oversee responsible AI practices such as governance and prompt engineering. By evaluating emerging AI technologies and vendors, the director will ensure solutions meet client business priorities and operational readiness, achieving measurable results. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and developing AI practitioners and consulting teams, establishing and scaling CGI's AI capabilities and methodologies, and fostering collaboration across business, technology, and delivery organizations to accelerate innovation.

CGI offers a competitive compensation range of $169,400 to $296,500 for this position in the U.S., reflecting the significant expertise and leadership required. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package from day one, which includes competitive salaries, insurance options, retirement plans with matching contributions, paid time off, parental leave, and professional development opportunities. CGI promotes a culture where employees are encouraged to be owners, actively participating in shaping the company's future while benefiting from collective success. The organization upholds equal employment opportunity principles and is committed to reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities.

Overall, this position is ideal for an experienced leader with strong knowledge of generative AI, proven client-facing advisory capabilities, and a passion for driving technology-enabled transformation within the public sector. Working at CGI means contributing to large-scale projects that impact government and commercial enterprises while being part of a supportive and dynamic global team dedicated to innovation and client success.
