Director, Final Mile Delivery Optimization

We are currently seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Final Mile Delivery Optimization to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive final mile transportation strategy. This is a newly created leadership position designed to establish standardized transportation practices across all branches while optimizing routing, delivery operations, and technology deployment. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will be pivotal in driving efficiencies, reducing delivery costs, and enhancing service levels throughout a nationwide network.

The Director will be responsible for partnering closely with branch operations, sales, IT, and customer experience teams to ensure seamless delivery execution aligned with company goals. This role involves designing and standardizing routing practices—such as territory planning, dispatch processes, delivery windows, and capacity planning—to foster streamlined operations. Additionally, the successful candidate will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of route optimization technologies, enhancing real-time decision-making capabilities.

Beyond operational execution, the Director will create and monitor performance metrics through dashboards and key performance indicators. These metrics will focus on on-time delivery rates, cost per delivery, route efficiency, productivity, and overall customer satisfaction. The role demands hands-on leadership by regularly engaging with branch locations to evaluate operations, coach local management teams, and support training and change management initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in transportation strategy within large multi-site environments, with demonstrated expertise in using advanced route optimization platforms. Leadership skills and an ability to influence and drive change across decentralized operations are vital for success. With a targeted pay range between $131,000 and $175,000 annually, this on-site position offers a significant opportunity for a seasoned professional to shape the future of the company’s delivery network and make a measurable impact on operational performance and customer experience.
