The Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center are premier entertainment venues that host a diverse array of performances, concerts, Broadway productions, private events, and special occasions. The Food and Beverage Director role at Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center is pivotal in driving the strategic leadership and operational management of all food and beverage services within these high-profile venues. This includes overseeing concessions, bars, premium hospitality areas, backstage catering, banquets, and special events. Tasked with the comprehensive oversight of multiple food service departments, the Director ensures seamless coordination and exceptional guest experiences across all events and functions. This role commands a dynamic presence during concerts, theatrical performances, and private functions, expertly managing both front-of-house and back-of-house operations in real time to adjust staffing, service, and logistics as needed.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the Food and Beverage Director manages critical financial components such as budgeting, financial performance analysis, labor scheduling, inventory control, purchasing, and driving revenue growth. Partnering closely with culinary leadership, this position plays a key role in the development of innovative menus, pricing strategies, and promotions to enhance guest satisfaction and business outcomes. Maintaining rigorous adherence to health, safety, sanitation, alcohol service regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies is essential, underscoring the importance of compliance and operational standards.

This leadership position requires a seasoned professional with extensive food and beverage management experience in a high-volume entertainment or hospitality environment. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, combined with financial acumen and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency in industry-specific management systems and Microsoft Office is necessary to effectively oversee operations. Certifications such as ServSafe Food Protection Manager, ServSafe Alcohol Certification, PCI Compliance Training, and CPR/First Aid are preferred, further ensuring the Director's capability to uphold safety and compliance standards. This role is instrumental in driving operational excellence, enhancing guest satisfaction, and contributing to the continued success and reputation of Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center in the entertainment industry.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, culinary arts, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressive food and beverage management experience in a high-volume entertainment, hospitality, or event venue
  • Experience managing budgets, P&L, labor, inventory, purchasing, and multiple food service operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with budgeting and cost control experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced event environment
  • Knowledge of concessions, catering, premium hospitality, bars, and backstage food service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and food and beverage management systems

Job Duties

  • Oversee all food and beverage operations for concerts, Broadway productions, private events, and other venue functions
  • Manage event planning and execution while partnering with clients, promoters, and internal departments to ensure successful events and an exceptional guest experience
  • Direct all front-of-house and back-of-house food and beverage operations during private events, proactively adjusting staffing, service, and logistics in real time to ensure seamless event execution and exceptional guest experiences
  • Oversee departmental budgets, financial performance, labor, inventory, purchasing, and revenue goals
  • Partner with culinary leadership to develop menus, pricing strategies, and promotions
  • Maintain operating standards and ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, alcohol service, OSHA, and company policies
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and overall business performance
