Job Description
Baby2Baby is a national non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that children living in poverty have access to basic necessities such as diapers, formula, clothing, and other essential items. Established over 14 years ago, Baby2Baby has grown to become a leading force in addressing childhood poverty across the United States by distributing more than half a billion items to over one million children annually. The organization collaborates with a broad network of homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care systems, hospitals, underserved schools, and disaster relief efforts to reach vulnerable children and families nationwide. Recognized as the number one non-profit on Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies list and named one of TIME Magazine's most influential companies of 2023, Baby2Baby continues to be at the forefront of social impact through its innovative and compassionate approach.
The Director of Events at Baby2Baby plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission by managing and executing large-scale community events that supply these vital goods to children in need. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Development, this full-time position is based in Los Angeles at the Baby2Baby headquarters and involves working on site three to five days each week. The Director’s primary focus is the operational management of inventory, logistics, and warehouse coordination related to Baby2Baby’s three major annual tentpole events: Mother’s Day, Back to School, and Holiday distributions. These events involve high-volume distribution efforts coordinated across multiple teams and external partners.
In this role, the Director of Events leads the entire lifecycle of goods management, beginning with sourcing and collection, intake, detailed inventory tracking, secure storage, and finally, the efficient distribution of these items to families. The Director must coordinate closely with internal stakeholders including Programs, Warehouse, Volunteer, and Corporate Partnerships teams to ensure all aspects of the events run smoothly—from securing program supplies to fulfilling sponsorship commitments. Additionally, the Director oversees logistics for large volunteer mobilizations supporting distribution and program activities and manages vendor relationships and external event producers to guarantee seamless event operations.
Besides these large-scale distributions, the Director of Events also provides essential logistical support for key internal stakeholder events such as Board and Angels meetings and assists with the planning and execution of the organization's major annual gala. Managing a small team of two event staff is another core aspect of the position, requiring leadership, organizational acumen, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will benefit from having a self-starter mentality, strong multitasking skills, and the capacity to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
The ideal candidate will bring at least eight years of event management experience with increasing responsibilities, including over two years of experience managing and supporting staff. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, superior communication and collaboration skills, and a valid driver’s license are essential. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational capabilities, and a commitment to delivering impactful events that align with Baby2Baby’s core mission of helping children in need. By joining Baby2Baby as the Director of Events, candidates will be contributing to a nationally recognized, innovative, and deeply impactful organization committed to equity, diversity, and the well-being of children and families across the country.
