Job Description

Encore is a leading global technology services company specializing in event solutions for the meetings, conferences, and entertainment industries. With a strong presence in the hotel and convention center markets, Encore is committed to delivering world-class audio visual and event technology support to clients across diverse venues. The company emphasizes a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement while fostering collaborative environments that prioritize learning and quality. Encore's dedication to inclusivity and a welcoming workplace culture sets it apart as an employer that values the unique strengths and differences of every individual.

The Director, Event Technology (DET) role is a pivotal leadership position within Encore, responsible for managing a team and overseeing the audio visual and event technology operations at one or more assigned locations. This role focuses on achieving revenue and profitability goals for venues that generate between $450,000 and $900,000 in revenue annually. Reporting to an Area Director, Regional Director, or Regional Vice President of Venues, the DET oversees less than two full-time equivalent team members, ensuring smooth operational delivery and exceptional client experiences.

This position combines strategic financial management with hands-on operational oversight in a dynamic hotel and convention center environment. The DET is instrumental in building and maintaining strong relationships with venue partners and clients, acting as a trusted point of escalation and consultant for sales strategies. The role includes managing the full spectrum of event technology logistics, from scheduling and equipment setup to troubleshooting and service delivery, all while maintaining adherence to brand standards and client expectations.

Operational excellence is a key component of the role, with responsibilities including inventory management, safety assurance, and cost control to achieve Encore's financial objectives. The DET also plays a critical role in revenue generation through upselling, cross-selling, and developing tailored event technology solutions that align with customer goals and profitability guidelines.

Leadership and people development are central to the DET’s duties. The role requires fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality commitment, managing employee performance, and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Providing coaching, training, and development opportunities for team members helps ensure that they are equipped with the skills to deliver Encore’s high standards of service.

This position demands strong technical skills, including proficiency in audio visual technology, software troubleshooting, and familiarity with company systems such as CRM and billing platforms. A customer satisfaction focus combined with effective leadership capabilities are essential for success. The DET serves not only as an operational leader but also as a strategic partner, contributing to business reviews, forecasting, and long-term growth strategies.

Given the physical nature of the job, candidates must be prepared for moderate physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, and climbing, often in noisy or variable environmental conditions. Work hours may include irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call periods. Encore provides competitive pay ranging from $20.82 to $27.07 per hour, with final compensation influenced by experience, location, and specialized skills. Additional benefits and opportunities for overtime, bonuses, or incentives may also apply.

Overall, the Director, Event Technology role at Encore offers a challenging and rewarding career path for individuals passionate about event technology, operational leadership, and delivering world-class service in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
