Job Description
Encore is a leading event technology company specializing in providing high-quality audio-visual services and innovative solutions for events held in hotels, convention centers, and other venues worldwide. Renowned for its commitment to excellence, Encore delivers world-class experiences through cutting-edge technology and a customer-first approach. The company fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where diversity and individual strengths are celebrated, ensuring employees and clients alike thrive within its culture. Encore operates in diverse locations, supporting events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale conferences, and often partners with hotels and venues to optimize event success. The company emphasizes continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance in all aspects of its operations while focusing on delivering exceptional customer service.
The Director, Event Technology II (DET II) plays a pivotal role at Encore by managing assigned locations with venue revenues ranging between $900,000 and $3.75 million. Reporting to the Area Director or Regional Vice President of Venues, this leadership position is crucial in driving the financial success and operational excellence of the location. The DET II oversees all aspects of event technology delivery, from financial management and reporting to operations, sales, customer service, technical oversight, and people development.
In this role, the DET II is responsible for achieving revenue and profitability goals by optimizing labor, equipment rentals, and other operational expenses. This includes utilizing company billing systems for accurate invoicing and ensuring venue partners process payments timely. The role demands strategic foresight, including completing accurate sales forecasts and participating in business reviews with regional management. Operationally, the DET II manages daily event floor activities, scheduling, equipment setup, and quality assurance to ensure client and venue specifications are met. They anticipate challenges and maintain inventory control for safety, security, and efficiency. Collaboration with venue personnel and internal teams is essential to maintain smooth operations.
Sales management is another key component of the position. The DET II works closely with Regional Sales Directors to implement effective sales strategies that maximize revenue through upselling and cross-selling. They prepare and present compelling proposals, attend client meetings, and support the overall customer event experience. Maintaining up-to-date customer information in the CRM system is vital to sustaining strong business relationships.
Customer service leadership is emphasized, with the DET II cultivating strong relationships among customers, venue staff, and Encore departments to exceed service expectations. They oversee team members assisting with event execution and ensure professional conduct and compliance with company and venue standards.
Technically, the DET II must have a thorough understanding of audio-visual equipment and solve technical issues promptly, acting as the on-site expert when necessary. The role involves hands-on assistance with operations and effective use of company computer systems.
A significant responsibility of the DET II is people development, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and learning. They manage performance, staffing, and employee development efforts while providing coaching and recommending training opportunities to enhance team skills.
This full-time position offers a salary range of $64,506 to $83,858, with compensation determined by experience, location, and specific skills. The role may require working irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call status, with potential travel between hotel locations. The physical demands are considerable, including standing, walking, lifting, and climbing.
Encore's commitment to providing excellent benefits and a welcoming, inclusive work environment makes this an attractive opportunity for experienced professionals seeking a challenging and rewarding leadership role in event technology management.
