The position of Director, Event Operations at Emerald is a senior role designed for a highly motivated and organized leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role requires strategic foresight and tactical expertise in managing event operations from planning through execution. The Event Operations Director will oversee and develop comprehensive operational plans to ensure that all events not only meet expectations but exceed them in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. This position holds full responsibility for directing project teams that include internal cross-functional teams and external partners, as well as managing Event Operations Managers and Coordinators assigned to various shows. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing event budgets, negotiating contracts, planning logistics, and fostering initiatives to improve the overall exhibitor and attendee experience.

The position requires up to 50 percent travel to various event locations to conduct site inspections and ensure seamless event execution.
Compensation for this full-time position ranges from $95,000 to $110,000, reflecting the candidate's experience and qualifications. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, event management or related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in event operations, preferably within the tradeshow industry
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to manage budgets and profit and loss
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Smartsheet
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50 percent
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Job Qualifications
- 7+ years of event operations experience, preferably in the tradeshow industry
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams and managing external partners
- Experience creating and managing event budgets with full profit and loss accountability
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Smartsheet, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 50 percent
Job Duties
- Direct strategic overall plan of operations for assigned events working with brand teams to ensure successful staging
- Develop and manage event budgets to maximize event value proposition and brand objectives including month-end reporting, budget revisions, and post-show reconciliation
- Create RFPs, review and analyze proposals, negotiate and oversee management and placement of ancillary vendor contracts
- Develop event floor plans working with sales, the facility, and the general service contractor to maximize revenue and customer experience
- Lead planning and detailed execution of all assigned expo and special events pre-show and onsite
- Lead the planning and execution of show design concepts and event graphics to enhance the brand experience working with all stakeholders
- Develop and oversee all exhibitor logistical communications including production of the Exhibitor Service Manual
