The role of Director, Event Management, Special Events at OC Sports & Entertainment is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of private and special events across the OCVIBE campus. This campus includes multiple venues designed to host corporate meetings, conferences, social gatherings, galas, premium activations, and other large-scale events. The Director leads a team of event professionals, both full-time and part-time, to ensure every client receives an exceptional experience that aligns with brand standards and financial goals. This individual will work closely with Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Finance departments to translate client visions into flawlessly executed events that maximize revenue and foster client loyalty.
The position offers an annual base salary ranging from $130,000 to $160,000, commensurate with the candidate's experience, location, and organizational considerations. This role demands deep expertise in event management within entertainment, hospitality, or destination event venues, with a proven track record in managing complex events and delivering premium guest services. Responsibilities include leading end-to-end event execution strategies, managing event equipment inventories, developing workforce models to optimize staffing and efficiency, and applying financial analysis to drive profitability and operational excellence.
Moreover, the Director is tasked with maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, cultivating a culture of accountability and hospitality excellence within the team, and acting as a brand steward to uphold OCVIBE's reputation. This leadership role involves direct involvement during major events, providing on-site decision-making and support, and collaborating with marketing teams to ensure event executions support broader brand initiatives. It is an on-site position that requires strong communication, financial acumen, and insightful problem-solving skills aimed at elevating the event experiences across all venues on the OCVIBE campus.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 8 years of event management or hospitality operations experience
- At least 3 years in senior leadership roles
- Proven leadership of multi-venue event management operations
- Experience with revenue-generating private events
- Strong financial skills including budgeting and forecasting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work on-site
- Commitment to company values and client service excellence
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in event management or hospitality operations
- At least 3 years in senior leadership overseeing teams and complex events
- Experience leading event management operations across multiple venues simultaneously
- Proven success executing revenue-generating private events including corporate and social
- Ability to lead and motivate full-time and part-time teams in fast-paced environments
- Strong financial acumen with labor budget and forecasting experience
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties
- Lead the end-to-end execution strategy for private and special events ensuring consistency and quality across venues
- Establish and manage operational frameworks, timelines, and workflows for high-volume event execution
- Partner with Special Events Sales to support client acquisition and execution of contracted deliverables
- Lead full lifecycle management of event equipment inventory including tracking, maintenance, and capital planning
- Directly manage and develop full-time Event Managers and part-time event staff
- Build staffing models and labor strategies balancing service excellence and profitability
- Create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through training and performance management
- Serve as an on-site leader during major events providing real-time decision-making and escalation support
- Develop and implement team operating plans, performance incentives, and accountability frameworks
- Apply financial analysis to event performance collaborating with Finance and Sales
- Support event forecasting, labor cost controls, and post-event financial reviews
- Champion upsell opportunities and operational efficiencies
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for event execution
- Ensure compliance with safety, permitting, accessibility, and regulatory standards
- Align resources and venue readiness with Operations, Security, Facilities, and Culinary
- Enforce service and presentation standards including elevated VIP experiences
- Serve as a steward of the OCVIBE brand ensuring premium hospitality and professionalism
- Address and resolve client concerns promptly to enhance loyalty
- Collaborate with Marketing and Brand teams for alignment with brand positioning
