The Director, DSD Excellence role at Bimbo Bakeries USA is a senior leadership position focused on driving the sustainability and excellence of selling and operational practices within the Direct Store Delivery (DSD) network. This role is pivotal in managing and holding frontline leaders accountable to the company's DSD Excellence standards, ensuring consistent brand growth and profitability aligned with Bimbo's vision. The Director collaborates closely with Zone Sales Leaders to develop and maintain structures and functions that execute DSD excellence initiatives effectively. Responsibilities include auditing sales centers, overseeing route structures and business development, supporting market expansion and real estate strategy, and driving safety initiatives. The position also involves managing key performance indicators, compliance with food safety and internal audit standards, and nurturing sales leaders through continuous development programs.

The role requires a combination of strategic leadership, operational expertise, and strong communication skills, as the Director must align local and corporate teams, implement corrective actions based on compliance audits, and support business unit goals for growth and profitability. The Director leads the recruitment, onboarding, and development of future leaders and ensures full utilization of sales tools and technology to maximize results. This position is located in the Midwest and offers an attractive salary range of $146,900 to $205,700, along with eligibility for annual bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field
  • 8-10 years management experience in food sales or relevant industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel 40%
  • Experience managing teams and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of operational and strategic planning
  • Ability to manage budgets
  • Experience in safety program implementation.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field
  • A combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work
  • 8-10 years management experience in food sales or relevant industry
  • MBA preferred
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and sales analytical tools
  • Proven track record as a successful team leader and coach
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time.

Job Duties

  • Collaborates and supports the Zone Sales Leaders in the development and maintenance of the overall structure and functions needed to execute DSD excellence initiatives
  • Maintains an audit schedule of all assigned sales centers to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of DSD Excellence activities
  • Communicates to local Zone Sales Leaders and the Corporate DSD Excellence Executive team the results of compliance audits and creates corrective action plans to address market deficiencies
  • Supports business unit strategies for market expansion and real estate needs
  • Supervises all business development positions
  • Supports financial reviews of Independent Business Partner routes prior to purchase and facilitates sales
  • Manages oversight of route structure, profitability, and viability including route splits, additions, and cuts
  • Drives and continuously monitors safety initiatives throughout the local organization and sales centers
  • Supports and enforces BBU Food Safety and internal audit standards
  • Provides transparency to the P&L through DSD Excellence Key Performance Indicators
  • Leads the development of sales leaders through the DSD Excellence curriculum
  • Builds organizational capability by recruiting and onboarding future leaders
  • Ensures full utilization of sales tools and technology to maximize sales and profit targets
  • Aligns with Business Unit leaders to develop strategic growth plans and new market paths
  • Oversees management of shrink and product accountability
  • Drives achievement of safety goals and coaches safety program awareness to eliminate workplace injuries.
