The role under discussion is pivotal to sustaining the seamless day-to-day operations and staffing of both the kitchen and dining venues within the community. This position holds the responsibility of managing and supervising all culinary service staff, from scheduling and assignments to performance reviews and hiring, aligning with company policies to promote a productive and motivated team. Integral to this role is the collaboration with various stakeholders including the restaurant manager and coordinator, ensuring a clear direction towards delivering high levels of customer service and creating an authentic restaurant-style dining atmosphere. In addition, this position involves regular engagement with residents and family members to gauge satisfaction levels, addressing concerns promptly to maintain high satisfaction scores. The role also requires overseeing budget management for the culinary services department, including monitoring monthly and annual expenditures related to food, supplies, and labor. This encompasses strategic planning of recipes and menus based on resident preferences and budget constraints, as well as managing inventory and vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.

Furthermore, the role encompasses organizing and executing special community events, banquets, and themed meals, working closely with sales and community staff to promote the community through signature culinary initiatives. The candidate will be expected to uphold company standards and first impression expectations consistently, ensuring a positive experience for all residents and guests. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five or more years culinary experience in hospitality
  • Food handlers permit as required by state law or company standards
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Compliance with company motor vehicle policy standards
  • Ability to resolve customer and employee dissatisfaction issues

Job Qualifications

  • Five or more years culinary experience in the hospitality industry
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and employees
  • Food handlers permit as required by state law or company standards
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to comply with company motor vehicle policy standards

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the day to day operations and staffing for the kitchen and dining venues of their community
  • Manages and supervises all Culinary Services staff including scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review, hiring and corrective action
  • Meets regularly with residents and family members to confirm high satisfaction levels
  • Collaborates with restaurant manager or coordinator to ensure high levels of customer service and a restaurant style dining atmosphere
  • Ensures front of house and back of house staff work closely to deliver food products that exceed expectations
  • Assists kitchen and restaurant staff with operations as needed, including working all stations
  • Works with Executive Director and front line staff to maintain department Customer Satisfaction and Quality Enhancement scores
  • Delegates tasks to maintain cleanliness and quality in kitchen and restaurant areas
  • Ensures food is prepared, stored, and served to company standards and health code requirements
  • Maintains Employee Satisfaction scores at designated levels
  • Interviews and hires culinary staff
  • Conducts monthly department meetings and in-services
  • Manages monthly and annual budgets including documentation of food, supplies, and labor expenditures
  • Plans and develops recipes and menus based on resident preferences and budgets
  • Ensures proper usage and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintains inventory of kitchen supplies, wares, and tableware
  • Oversees purchasing standards and vendor relationships
  • Plans and executes Engage Life events, special events, banquets, and theme meals
  • Collaborates with Community Sales Director to market community culinary initiatives
  • Ensures staff understand company expectations and first impression requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested
