We are currently seeking a Director, Commercial Sales, Retail & Foodservice for Factor's New Channels team, which is tasked with expanding growth beyond our core Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business. This role focuses on further developing the Retail and Foodservice sectors, pivotal areas that are transitioning from pilot stages into full-scale operations. Responsibilities include supporting expansion efforts with major retailers such as Target and Costco, managing retail marketing executions, navigating supply chain complexities, and enhancing commercial planning. The Director will serve as the commercial leadership pillar for these growth channels, reporting directly to the General Manager, New Channels.
As a critical leader within the organization, the Director of Commercial Sales, Retail & Foodservice will own the profit-and-loss (P&L) for their portfolio, driving revenue delivery, margin management, trade spend oversight, and variance analysis relative to plans. The role involves closely collaborating with various internal teams—including Sales & Business Development, Strategy & Planning, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations—to build a robust multi-channel commercial roadmap aligning with business objectives. The ideal candidate is a builder with extensive experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sales leadership, possessing a strong account strategy acumen, financial discipline, and operational excellence.
This leadership role demands the ability to bring structure to a high-growth environment often characterized by emerging processes and evolving playbooks. The Director will leverage their expertise to define portfolio-level retailer and channel priorities across multiple channels such as grocery, club, specialty retail, foodservice, and new growth initiatives. They will also oversee pricing architecture, manage commercial commitments including Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and long-term agreements, and ensure governance around trade agreements. The position requires high-level partnership with the Head of Sales & Business Development for customer strategy, account prioritization, and new account development, while also managing escalations for senior customer relationships.
In addition, the Director will lead the commercial operating rhythm to align sales, finance, supply chain, and marketing teams on key priorities, risks, and decisions. They will sponsor Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) efforts, setting expectations around forecast accuracy, trade Return on Investment (ROI), customer engagement quality, category reviews, and commercial readiness for new item launches. Broker governance, distributor business reviews, and partner performance management also fall under their purview. The role includes direct management and coaching of the commercial team, sequencing future hiring aligned with revenue milestones, and representing Retail and Foodservice priorities to senior Factor and HelloFresh leadership with clear, data-backed recommendations.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $140,700 to $170,000 USD and is eligible for the HelloFresh equity plan. Job Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in CPG commercial sales or related commercial leadership roles
- Experience owning or leading retail account management across various channels
- Proven ability to manage commercial budgets and P&L
- Strong understanding of retail commercialization processes
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- BA/BS degree required
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and building operational structure in a growing business
Job Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in CPG commercial sales, retail sales, sales strategy, go-to-market, or related commercial leadership roles
- Experience owning or leading retail account management across mass, club, grocery, specialty, or foodservice channels
- Target, Costco, or fresh/refrigerated experience is a strong plus
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial budgets, trade spend, pricing decisions, and P&L performance
- Experience building or scaling a commercial function, operating cadence, broker model, account management approach, or channel launch from an early stage
- Strong understanding of retail commercialization, including category reviews, JBPs, retailer submissions, promotional planning, pricing, and new item launch requirements
- Experience partnering with supply chain, finance, marketing, and operations teams to evaluate account opportunities and launch plans
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present clearly to senior leadership and external customers
- BA/BS required
- MBA or equivalent commercial leadership experience preferred
Job Duties
- Own annual retail and foodservice revenue delivery at the total commercial portfolio level, including the commercial P&L narrative across revenue, margin, trade spend, contribution, and variance to plan
- Lead commercial inputs into the AOP and build the multi-channel commercial roadmap in partnership with retail sales & BD, sales strategy & planning, finance, supply chain & production, business operations, and marketing
- Set portfolio-level retailer and channel priorities across Target, Costco, grocery, club, specialty retail, foodservice, and future growth channels
- Own pricing architecture, trade guardrails, major commercial commitment approvals, and governance around JBPs, long-term agreements, and material retailer commitments
- Partner with the Head of Sales & BD on account prioritization, new account development, customer strategy, and business case pressure-testing
- Support senior customer relationship moments and escalation as needed
- Lead the commercial operating rhythm across sales, planning, finance, supply chain, and marketing, ensuring the team is aligned on priorities, risks, decisions, and handoffs
- Sponsor S&OP from the commercial side and set expectations for forecast accuracy, trade ROI, customer meeting quality, category reviews, and new item commercialization readiness
- Own broker governance, broker QBRs, distributor business reviews, and commercial partner performance management where relevant
- Manage and coach the commercial team, including Head of Sales & BD, Sales Strategy & Planning, and future Foodservice sales leadership
- Sequence future hiring against revenue milestones
- Represent retail and foodservice priorities to senior Factor and HelloFresh leadership with clear, data-backed recommendations and decision-ready communication
