Job Description

Northrop Grumman is a global aerospace and defense technology company renowned for its innovative contributions to revolutionary systems that shape the future and impact lives worldwide. With a legacy of pioneering achievements — from enabling the first transatlantic flight to advancing stealth technology and contributing to lunar missions — Northrop Grumman stands at the cutting edge of technological advancement. The company fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity, diversity in thought, and a commitment to delivering what others deem impossible, providing employees with a platform to make history in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is currently seeking a highly experienced Director of Business Development 1 to join its Strategic Customer Engagement team within the Business Development and Capture Excellence organization. This crucial role serves as the US Air Force Account Manager, acting as the primary interface between NGMS and the US Air Force customer. The Director is responsible for full-spectrum account management encompassing strategic planning, lead generation, pipeline development, and customer engagement aimed at establishing Northrop Grumman as the preferred partner for the US Air Force. The role demands a results-driven and win-oriented leader capable of setting and executing a strategic agenda that integrates NGMS programs, product lines, and capture efforts cohesively.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Customer Engagement, this position offers a hybrid telework option from select Northrop Grumman locations, including Linthicum, MD; Newport News, VA; Beavercreek, OH; McLean, VA; or Falls Church, VA. The role requires up to 50% travel to various US Air Force bases such as Langley AFB and Wright-Patterson AFB, aligning closely with Air Force priorities and engagements.

The Director of Business Development will lead and manage NGMS's US Air Force account, working across multiple divisions and teams to present unified value propositions, align portfolios with Air Force priorities, and deepen relationships with high-ranking officials and key influencers. This includes orchestrating opportunity qualification, setting win strategies, and collaborating with capture leadership and business units to enable proposal readiness and agile decision-making. The incumbent will also prepare executive-level briefs, coordinate stakeholder engagement plans aligned with corporate government relations, and synthesize market intelligence to inform portfolio strategy and planning.

This leadership position not only demands comprehensive sector knowledge but also unwavering ethical conduct, compliance, and superior communication skills necessary for influencing senior government and corporate officials. The role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about defense-sector business development and strategic customer engagement. The salary range is competitive, between $185,400 and $305,900, with extensive benefits including health coverage, paid time off, savings plans, and education assistance, reflecting Northrop Grumman's commitment to the success and growth of its employees.
