The role of Direct Support Provider within Foothills Gateway's Adult Care Services program offers a unique opportunity to directly impact the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program provides temporary respite care at a dedicated respite house, allowing caregivers and families much-needed relief while ensuring the participants receive excellent care. The Direct Support Provider position is part-time, requiring up to 29.75 hours per week, with a competitive pay range from $18.75 to $20.63 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Overnight shifts include a specific sleep rate compensation of $17.00 per hour. Additionally, employees are eligible for a $200 hiring bonus after 90 days of employment.

In this rewarding role, the Direct Support Provider is responsible for assisting individuals with daily living activities, personal care, medication support, and social and recreational involvement. Providers play a vital role in fostering a positive, safe atmosphere and actively enhance the independence and personal growth of those in their care. This includes promoting life skills with a person-centered approach while handling crisis interventions as needed. The position involves working varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and overnight hours, and requires a valid driver’s license as driving is essential for community outings and appointments.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • Ability to attend required trainings and meetings
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to perform household chores and assist with personal care
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure positive, safe environment for individuals receiving services
  • Complete daily household chores to ensure a clean and safe living environment
  • Monitor the health and safety of individuals
  • Assist individuals with medication as need indicates
  • Assist, support, promote, and train individuals with independent life skills and a person-centered approach
  • Assist individuals with personal care/hygiene when needed
  • Manage crisis intervention as necessary (medical emergencies, behavioral situations, incident reports, etc.)
  • Report all mistreatment, abuse, neglect, exploitation, other incidents and concerns to Program Director
  • Drive for community activities and other appointments as required
