Job Description
ResCare Community Living, a proud part of the Sevita family, is a respected and well-established organization dedicated to providing quality community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since its inception in 1974, ResCare Community Living has been committed to empowering individuals, enhancing their independence, and helping them live well within their homes and communities. As a part of Sevita, a nationwide leader in specialized health care, ResCare benefits from a robust network of professionals and resources aimed at delivering person-centered support that fosters skill-building, overcomes challenges, and enables individuals to reach their fullest potential.
ResCare operates primarily within residential, periodic, vocational, and day program settings, serving individuals with diverse needs. The organization maintains a strong focus on regulatory compliance, safety, customer engagement, and the holistic well-being of those under its care. Its team consists of dedicated and experienced professionals who provide direct support and ensure seamless program operations.
The role of Program Supervisor at ResCare Community Living is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly supervisory position crucial to the effective management of a single program or unit within the organization. Typically, this role involves overseeing support services for 4-8 individuals in residential settings or 10-15 individuals in periodic, vocational, or day programs. The Program Supervisor splits their responsibilities between direct support to individuals, professional or program activities, and supervisory duties.
Central to this position is the supervision of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who deliver daily care and assistance to individuals. The Program Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of assigned programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality person-centered services, health care coordination, advocacy, customer service, and regulatory compliance. In some cases, the supervisor may also be responsible for overseeing the physical environment to maintain a safe and supportive living or program space.
A unique aspect of this role is the blend of supervisory and hands-on responsibilities. Generally, the Program Supervisor works 8 to 16 hours weekly in a supervisory capacity and spends the remaining hours providing direct support. This hands-on involvement ensures the supervisor remains closely connected to the individuals served and the staff they oversee.
Key responsibilities include managing personnel by conducting hiring, training, scheduling, evaluations, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with program leadership. The Program Supervisor assists in program planning, documentation, compliance with licensing and Sevita’s standards, and the management of individuals' personal funds and assets when applicable. Health care oversight involves monitoring the health status of individuals, coordinating medical appointments, administering medications, and maintaining necessary medical supplies and equipment.
The role demands excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to maintain productive relations with families, case managers, and other partners. The Program Supervisor also plays a vital role in financial and census management by ensuring precise billing documentation, budget adherence, and service utilization monitoring.
Candidates for this position should be prepared for a dynamic work environment, which includes residential, vocational, or in-home settings, and requires the physical ability to perform heavy work, exerting significant force when moving objects. The employer emphasizes safety and compliance throughout all job functions.
As part of Sevita, ResCare Community Living is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on legally protected characteristics. Their commitment to ongoing innovation and quality services continues to drive positive outcomes for the thousands of individuals served each year across the United States.
