Job Description

ResCare Community Living, a division within the Sevita family, has been delivering exceptional services since 1974. As part of Sevita, a leading provider of home and community-based specialized health care, ResCare focuses on empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fuller and more independent lives. The organization's core philosophy revolves around person-centered care that respects individual preferences, enhances independence, and supports growth in home and community settings.

Sevita, with over 40,000 dedicated team members, serves approximately 50,000 individuals throughout the United States. The combined expertise and compassionate approach make it a trusted partner for families, caregivers, and professionals seeking comprehensive support for those facing various physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges. This foundation ensures that ResCare Community Living remains committed to improving quality of life through structured programming, advocacy, and individualized plans tailored to each person's needs.

The Program Supervisor role at ResCare Community Living is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position that plays a vital role in the daily operation of residential, vocational, or periodic programs. The supervisor typically oversees a single program or unit, managing supports for 4-8 individuals in residential settings or 10-15 individuals in day or vocational programs. The position requires a balanced responsibility, combining direct support duties with supervisory functions, thus ensuring that service delivery aligns with person-centered plans and meets regulatory compliance.

This role includes supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), implementing health care protocols, managing customer engagement, maintaining a safe environment, and overseeing documentation related to billing, incidents, and program utilization. Approximately 8 to 16 hours per week are dedicated to supervisory tasks, including staff scheduling, employee evaluations, training, and compliance monitoring, while the remainder of the time involves direct support activities.

Beyond operational oversight, the Program Supervisor assists in program planning by contributing to individualized plans, attending team meetings, and ensuring all documentation and records meet accuracy standards. The role is crucial in managing health care needs, including medication administration, scheduling medical appointments, and ensuring dietary and safety protocols are followed within the program. It also involves financial responsibilities like managing individuals' funds, purchasing supplies, and monitoring budget adherence.

Stakeholder relations form a fundamental aspect of the role, requiring the supervisor to foster productive communication with individuals served, families, case managers, and other partners. The supervisor champions Sevita's customer service standards by training staff and maintaining positive interactions at all levels.

Personnel management is comprehensive, involving recruitment, onboarding, training, discipline, and performance evaluations to maintain an effective and motivated workforce. The supervisor is also responsible for workforce safety, ensuring regulatory compliance and responding appropriately to workplace incidents.

Finally, operational maintenance duties such as vehicle inspections, housekeeping oversight, and environmental safety monitoring fall under the purview of this position. The Program Supervisor ensures that facilities and equipment meet safety standards and that any repairs or maintenance are promptly addressed.

Overall, this position demands an individual who is organized, compassionate, and capable of multitasking within a dynamic support environment. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of related work experience, be 18 years or older, and have working knowledge of computers. A current driver’s license and relevant certifications, when applicable, are also required.

Joining ResCare Community Living means becoming part of a forward-thinking organization that values diversity and inclusion, upholds equal employment opportunities, and is dedicated to delivering the highest standards of care. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals requiring support while working within a supportive professional team committed to innovation and excellence in care.
