The Direct Support Professional - Rover position is a dynamic and essential role within the Supported Living Program. This role requires providing flexible, cross-site direct support and shift coverage across multiple locations, ensuring the continuity of care and adherence to regulatory standards. The Rover plays a crucial part in supporting both staff and client needs in various environments, from residential settings to medical appointments. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong customer service and computer skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining calmness under pressure. Responsibilities include assisting with behavioral and medically fragile client support, administering medication under the direction of healthcare managers, and ensuring client safety and dignity. The Rover also provides relief to supporting staff for meal breaks, maintains strict documentation to ensure compliance, and assists with transportation needs. This role requires handling varying client support needs, including challenging behaviors, sexualized behaviors, and health monitoring, emphasizing person-centered service plans and positive behavior strategies.
Schedules are flexible and vary between day and evening shifts, including Sunday-Thursday and Tuesday-Saturday rotations. The position demands the ability to safely transport participants in compliance with company and state regulations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years experience in human services, behavioral health, or related field preferred
- obtain CPR/First Aid certification, nurse delegation and nurse delegation diabetes within 90 days of hire
- maintain active Washington State Nursing Assistant Registered certification
- attend required training
- hold valid Washington State driver’s license
- have personal vehicle and proof of insurance with minimum liability coverage of $50,000 per accident
- successfully pass background check including WA State, FBI fingerprints, and DSHS clearance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in human services, behavioral health, or a related field preferred
- obtain CPR/First Aid certification, nurse delegation and nurse delegation diabetes within 90 days of hire
- obtain and maintain an active Washington State Nursing Assistant Registered certification
- attend required training
- possess a Washington State driver’s license
- have personal vehicle and proof of insurance meeting minimum liability coverage of $50,000 per accident
- background check clearance including WA State, FBI fingerprints, and DSHS
Job Duties
- Provide direct support to participants in their homes, ensuring safety, dignity, and clean environment
- work with all variety of client support needs, including but not limited to challenging behavioral support, sexualized behavioral support, and medically fragile support
- relieve client supporting staff from client sites so they can take their lawful 30 minute meal break if the staff member should request their meal break
- assist with communication and administrative tasks required to maintain compliance and continuity of care within participant homes
- observe client’s functional conditions and report changes immediately to the Health Care Program Manager to ensure action is taken promptly
- complete medication assistance including administering, delivering, picking-up, arrange for renewal, and disposal of outdated or no longer prescribed medications for clients as assigned by the Health Care Program Manager
- provide quality assurance assistance with medication compliance and health tracking in accordance with the Medical Providers order
- report all findings of errors or concerns regarding medication and health tracking to the Health Care Program Manager
- assist with transportation in personal vehicle or by setting up client paratransit to and from medical appointments as requested by the Health Care Program Manager
- ensure that any maintenance problems are reported to the Service Desk system
- ensure the clients' health and safety, power and choice, positive recognition by self and others, community integration, promote competence and self reliance, and support them in developing relationships
- maintain participant records, implement the Individual Support Plan, Person-Centered Service Plan, Individual Instruction and Support Plan, and Positive Behavior Support Plan if applicable
- must be able to safely transport participants in accordance with company and state regulations
