We are currently seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team and provide dedicated, personalized care for a young adult male client in the Clackamas area. This role is critical as it encompasses advocating for the client during medical appointments, assisting with daily living skills, and facilitating participation in community activities to encourage social engagement and personal development. The Direct Support Professional will work closely with the client to support independence, safety, and emotional well-being while delivering physical assistance when necessary. The position requires reliability, flexibility, patience, and a compassionate approach to care, with responsibilities including driving the client to appointments, grocery shopping, and supporting community integration based on the client’s interests. The role also emphasizes consistent documentation of progress towards Individual Support Plan goals, collaboration with case managers, and maintaining organized housing information for the client. The work schedule is flexible with specific hours on Wednesdays from 12 PM to 5 PM, and potential additional days. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to commit to Wednesday shifts and flexible scheduling
- Ability to provide physical assistance when required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to pass background check and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Ability to work in Clackamas, OR area
Job Qualifications
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is highly desirable
- Experience supporting clients with emotional regulation challenges is a plus
- Organizational skills, clear communication skills, and exceptional patience
- Strong observational skills and knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours
Job Duties
- Drive to medical appointments, providing doctor appointment advocacy, grocery shopping, and other basic needs
- Support development of independent living and socialization skills as per Individual Support Plan
- Assist client in organizing housing-related information and monitoring waitlist status
- Facilitate access to community spaces including familiar and new activities like Off the Couch, PHAME events, and AWE
- Support effective communication to build and foster new friendships
- Document care activities and progress toward ISP goals
- Collaborate with case manager and Client Services Coordinator
