This role is within Chimes’ residential support programs, where the primary job function centers on working directly in the residence of a person served. The position is designed to provide personal support and active engagement with individuals, ensuring all program activities and goals are carried out effectively both in the home and within community settings. This hands-on role involves providing supervision and specialized training for adults with developmental disabilities, promoting growth aligned with each person's unique plan and objectives. The employee will help create a home atmosphere that is personalized according to the preferences and personalities of each person served.

A core aspect of this role is empowering those supported by teaching and encouraging independence in daily living skills such as mobility, budgeting, hygiene, cleaning, and meal preparation, all while adhering strictly to established behavior plans and intervention strategies. The role requires maintaining safety and wellbeing, including monitoring whereabouts, administering medications accurately, and acting as a positive role model. Communication with team members, day program staff, and supervisors is essential to ensure coordinated care and responsiveness to both the needs of individuals supported and the operational requirements of the residence.

The position demands flexibility, including working nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous care. Safety and emergency preparedness knowledge is critical, as is the responsibility for attending religious services when appropriate and fostering a positive, responsible, and courteous home and work environment. Furthermore, adherence to agency policies, regular attendance, timely record keeping, and participation in professional development opportunities all form part of the role. The work often involves collaboration across a wide range of stakeholders including families, community professionals, and agency personnel.
