Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Commitment to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Must have a driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by agency insurance and policy
- Must be able to lift, pull, and push weights that may exceed 50 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to complete required training and certifications
- Reliable attendance
- Adherence to agency policies and procedures

- Knowledge of routine and emergency medical procedures including CPR
- Experience in administering medications
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
Job Duties
- Work in the residence of a person served as a personal support and be actively engaged with them
- Provide supervision and training to adults with developmental disabilities to promote growth toward their highest potential
- Ensure the house is personalized and individualized to each person’s preferences and personality
- Teach and instruct people served to do as much as possible for themselves per program plans
- Communicate with day program staff concerning individual programs when requested
- Communicate concerns related to persons served needs and house operations promptly to the Community Support Manager
- Utilize approved behavior plans and intervention strategies to enhance progress of goals
- Act as a positive role model for persons served and agency staff
- Assist with independent living skills including mobility, budgeting, personal hygiene, cleaning, bathing, toileting, nail care, and oral hygiene
- Monitor the whereabouts of persons served at all times during work hours
- Attend routine meetings with the BSS Program Manager or designee
- Be knowledgeable of routine and emergency medical procedures including CPR, vital signs, positioning, wheelchair usage, transfers, assistive devices, splints, dentures, and walkers
- Administer medication correctly and timely consistent with Physician Medical Order Form and Medication Administration Record
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of persons served at home
- Aid persons served in care and maintenance of personal belongings
- Complete appropriate records and reports like monthly reports, incident reports, seizure records, program activity logs, fire drill reports
- Clean home with the person served, do laundry, and prepare food according to approved menus and dietary restrictions
- Collect data relating to persons served progress according to agency policy
- Transport persons served to appointments, activities, and community outings
- Assume financial responsibility for agency and persons served funds and document accordingly
- Communicate medical concerns to the Registered Nurse and supervisor promptly
- Check all rooms at specified times to ensure safety and well-being
- Use approved crisis intervention techniques in emergencies
- Know location of important house records like fire drills, water temperatures, medical records, menus
- Attend religious services with the person served
- Contribute to a positive, enthusiastic, responsible, and courteous home and work atmosphere
- Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Treat persons served with kindness, dignity, and respect at all times
- Use technology for job duties completion
- Attend work regularly as scheduled and in accordance with agency policy
- Participate in in-service training, staff meetings, and other professional development activities
- Work cooperatively with families, staff, supervisors, administrators, community professionals, customers, neighbors, vendors, and the public
- Abide by agency policies and procedures
- Assume other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as needed
