The role of a Direct Support Professional at ResCare is a non-exempt, hourly position available in both full-time and part-time capacities. This role involves providing direct support within a single program or unit, typically supporting 4 to 6 individuals in residential settings or up to 10 individuals in periodic programs. The primary responsibility is to deliver individualized support aligned with service plans, encompassing socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and skill development. This hands-on position requires assisting individuals with daily activities such as personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, shopping, and community integration.
Direct Support Professionals are also responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing individuals' assets responsibly, fostering professional relationships, and reporting incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. Health care duties include accompanying individuals to medical appointments, administering medications, monitoring general health, and handling medical supplies and equipment appropriately. Additionally, the role involves preparing meals in line with dietary requirements and supporting individuals in making healthy food choices.
Employment responsibilities extend to attending required training sessions, adhering to work schedules, collaborating effectively with team members, and ensuring workplace safety. Maintenance tasks are part of the job, including performing housekeeping duties, making minor repairs, ensuring environmental safety, and driving individuals safely in accordance with local laws when required.
This position demands physical effort classified as heavy work, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and requires adherence to strict safety and confidentiality standards. Employees must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license with good standing, and successfully complete mandated training and state certifications. Compliance with background checks, drug testing, and registry verifications is mandatory before and during employment.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- six months of experience in human services preferred
- valid driver’s license in good standing
- car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation
- completion of all state-required trainings and certifications within mandated timeframes
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to document accurately
- ability to work scheduled hours and notify supervisor of absences
- compliance with background checks and drug testing
- physical ability to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally
- adherence to company safety policies
- must be approved by management to drive for the company

Job Duties
- Provide direct support or assistance according to individual service or program plans
