As a reputable provider, ResCare Community Living is committed to enhancing independence and helping people live well within their homes and communities. The organization offers person-centered services that focus on skill development, overcoming personal challenges, and helping individuals reach their full potential. Sevita, the parent company, is a leading provider of home and community-based specialized healthcare with over 40,000 team members supporting 50,000 individuals across the United States.

This role is a non-exempt, hourly position offering the flexibility of full-time or part-time employment. The position typically supports 4 to 6 individuals in residential settings or up to 10 in periodic programs, ensuring that care adheres strictly to individual service or program plans. Support includes socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, skill and behavioral development, and activities of daily living such as personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, and community engagement.

The Direct Support Professional plays a critical role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for individuals served by ResCare Community Living. This involves accurate and confidential documentation of progress and activity, maintaining healthy professional relationships with individuals and their families, and reporting any concerns such as abuse or neglect in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. The role also requires monitoring individuals’ health, assisting with medical appointments, administering or supporting medication delivery, preparing meals in line with dietary requirements, and ensuring the general safety and maintenance of the living environment.

Employees of ResCare are encouraged to participate in ongoing training and staff meetings, emphasizing the importance of effective teamwork, workplace safety, punctuality, reliability, and adherence to established schedules. The role involves performing physical tasks requiring heavy work, such as lifting and moving objects, and may involve transporting individuals safely in compliance with local laws and safety regulations.

ResCare Community Living values its employees and the vital contribution they make to the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. As part of a supportive team, Direct Support Professionals will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others through compassionate, professional care in a dynamic and rewarding environment. The company fosters an inclusive culture where employees must comply with training, drug testing, and background check requirements to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality are maintained for all individuals served. Overall, this role offers meaningful work with the stability and support of a well-established organization committed to positive outcomes and continual improvement.
