REM Community Services is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join their team. This role is crucial in providing direct support and assistance to individuals receiving services, primarily in residential settings or periodic programs. Employees in this position are responsible for delivering personalized care, aiding in daily activities such as personal care, housekeeping, transportation, and community engagement. The role requires adherence to individual service or program plans with a focus on socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and behavioral development. The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment, assisting with medical appointments, and ensuring the well-being of the individuals served.
This position is non-exempt and offers both full-time and part-time hourly opportunities, with a competitive pay rate of $20.00 per hour. The schedule is structured to meet the needs of the program, including evening and weekend shifts. Responsibilities extend beyond direct care to include accurate documentation, managing individual assets within set budgets, maintaining professional relationships with families and case managers, and reporting incidents or concerns in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. The role also involves participation in ongoing training and teamwork to uphold workplace safety standards.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- six months of experience in human services preferred
- must be 18 years of age or older
- working knowledge of computers
- valid driver’s license in good standing
- car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation
- completion of all state-required training and certification within mandated timeframes
- ability to pass background checks and drug testing
- comply with company MVR driving record requirements
- must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently

Job Duties
- Provide direct support or assistance in accordance with individual service or program plans
- assist with socialization and behavioral development
- assist with personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community orientation, shopping, financial management, citizenship, and other activities of daily living
- accurately document progress and activity
- maintain confidentiality
- make cost-effective and appropriate purchases within the budget of the individual served
- maintain healthy and professional relationships with individuals, families, guardians, and case managers
- report any instances of alleged abuse or neglect
- respect and assist individuals in exercising their rights
- accompany individuals to medical appointments as needed
- administer or support self-administration of medication and document delivery
- monitor individual’s health and communicate health concerns
- follow procedures in utilizing medical equipment and report malfunction
- prepare or support meal preparation according to individual choice and special diets
- attend orientation and ongoing training
- work scheduled hours and communicate schedule changes
- work cooperatively as part of a team
- comply with workplace safety policies and report hazards
- transport individuals safely and according to laws
- perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks
- participate in safety drills and protect individuals in emergencies
- perform other duties as required
